Like all pf the people already said in the comments, this is hikaru’s biggest chance and might as well be his last chance to win it all and achieve his biggest dream. Dude is a legend and will go down in the history books for being one of the pioneers to making chess mainstream in the digital age. Love him or hate him, we gotta appreciate this man for all of his goods and bads. Gonna be fun watchinf him go demon mode

I agree with Magnus's rankings. Fabi, Hikaru, and Nepo all have fairly equal chances of winning. Alireza and Prag would be my 3rd and 4th place picks also in no particular order. Alireza is the 3rd most creative player in the world after Magnus and Hikaru, but he's likely to give up a few games by playing too aggressively which will cost him his chances at winning. The rest of the field are all capable of drawing most of their games and maybe having 1-2 brilliant wins, but I they'll also likely have enough losses to offset their wins and crush their chances.

its great to see magnus judging people who are contending for second place
I don't agree that Hikaru has a good chance to win. I've been watching chess since 2021 and I've noticed that you have to have a really bad haircut to have a legitimate chance to win. Ding was an outlier, because nobody believed that 2nd place in the candidates would matter. Hikaru has pretty good hair which means he has no chance. Hans would have a better chance, if he was in. It also helps if you have a really ill-fitting crappy suit or sport coat.
This guy has some good insights, i think he has a good understanding of the game. He might become a GM if he'd like to.

I agree with this list and I appreciate the way Carlsen is very honest with his answers, he's blunt but it's necessary to be especially coming from him as he likely knows a lot more than us, I think It's Hikaru's time.
