My take is: Magnus saw that FIDE and it's world championship is becoming less…relevant in the modern chess era. And the stress of defending the title year after year with FIDE's format is less palatable. Another take is: Magnus has overtaken FIDE and is more popular and relevant than FIDE. And Magnus, if he is so inclined, could likely grab a few well known GM's and create something totally new. I think that would be cool, FIDE probably would feel differently about that. But is the motivation there? I don't know, I'm just a guy who enjoys the game and enjoys watching it played at the highest levels. Magnus is not retiring, and I look forward to watching more brilliant matches by him. Yeppers and hey, calm down lol

I'd prefer if he gave these instructions more often. Like, the rook trade thing is useful even for higher level players

P.S and yes, even Nakamura can't beat Carlsen with classic time control in a chess match. But that would be a maybe the best match we could wish to happen. But unfortunately, there is no way
I know this video's about Carlsen's last game as reigning world champion but it just made me realize that because I'm a full 13 years younger than him, there will come a time when I'll look up the highest rated player in the world and it won't be Carlsen & for some reason that saddens me.
