Kramnik didn't forget it was his move, but simply showed up 1:20 minutes too late. Magnus then followd suit, so as not to give Kramnik an excuse, and also spent 1:20 on his …h6 move. And then proceded to obliterate Kramnik.
I respect Krammik's masterful playing but making cheating accusations without any proof is just childish and unsportsmanlike. Roll with your losses and realize that there are people out there that can beat you without cheating.

Magnus plays so expressively and fluidly yet he would still get destroyed by alphazero or some other engine — or would he? I'd love to still see him attempt a game against one of them just to see how those engines would handle his moves.

Those pawns routinely find a way to be crucial. I think Magnus found a line that doesn't sacrifice tempo and turns into a net benefit 40 turns later. They always becme integral to a plan. Everyone else thinking it is nuts isn't seeing the long game it serves. The killer part is Magnus realizing it is a benefit when no one else is picking up on it. He's been using it for months and dominating with it. People still think it is a suspect play, it definitely isn't. A year from now openings will be discussed in a completely different light.
