For speed chess, I can't imagine a more exciting match up. The top two dishing it out like it was nothing.
people think naka's the favourite in 1+1, forgetting that 1+1 and 1+0 are completely different. magnus has in fact won their last three 1+1 matches, including a dominating score of 7.5 to 2.5 in 2017.
Magnus consistently turning around games that were initially lost or appeared to be draws may initially appear fortunate, but the frequency with which he achieves this in nearly every other game suggests that it's more a testament to his skill than mere luck. #GOAT
On the other Hand, Hikaru, able to play on equal terms and make magnus sweat to win, Makes him the deadliest opponent. GOD I love chess.
Magnus is just separating himself from everyone else…. The GOAT of this era indeed!

What a joke of a so-called WC in Iceland. Congrats to Hikaru, the RAPID WC.
-Wesley So won really in CLASSICAL not just SLOW RAPID because the time control was 45+15=60min!
-And 25+5+5x(60-30) = 32.5min < 35, midpoint of 10min & 60min and thus is FAST rapid not even SLOW!
FIDE gave unfavourable conditions for AMERICANS Bobby & Wesley So. They didn't lose WC to Anatoly Karpov / Hikaru.

Turns out Magnus is a talentless patzer who crumbles without opening prep. PATHETIC.
-Note: Patzer here means extremely good at openings but sucks at middlegames or endgames.
Hence, 'talentless patzer' is redundant. LOL.
Magnus is maybe ONE of the GREATEST, but how can you be THE greatest while TALENTLESS?
In 2022 rapid WC, Magnus lost 3-1 to Nepo and thus lost indirectly lost 3-1 to Hikaru despite beating Nepo 4-0 in the 2021 WCC (where Magnus cheated Nepo). Also, Magnus should be better in rapid than classical.

'Magnus doesn't generally play such great openings, he strives to get the game out of book as early as possible usually. I think the issue here is that his greatest strength is the endgame, but FRC games are much more likely to be decided in the middlegame as the players are on their own so early. That's probably why he doesn't shine as brightly in FRC as in Classical chess.'

my opinion is that Magnus didn't feels excitement in classic chess, because he's so much superior than anyone on the planet, now he's coming to final chess modality (rapid games) to prove he's the best of all time, the all-might chess player, the GOAT of the GOATS.
I wonder if Hikaru on some level, subconsciously, just wanted to see what sort of attack Magnus thought he had there.
The man answers a phone call, has a conversation, apologizes then continues like there wasn't even a pause. Impressive.
I know it's bullet, but man did Hikaru blunder a lot of moves in game 2. I'm only 2200 in bullet, but I saw a lot of crushing moves/mates he slipped on. I swear Magnus messes with his nerves. If Hikaru were streaming and didn't know it was Magnus he'd play better lol.
