3:23 “so what I play h3 all the time”

    “Yeah well you’re 400”

    EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.

    AND HE SACRIFICES THE ROOOOOOOOOOOOK!!!!!!!!!!!

Genuinely the commitment to posting daily videos in a fashionable time, in an entertaining way, is just amazing and Gotham is like the one YouTuber whom I enjoy posting videos every single day. ❤

Hey Levi such a shame you are accepting sponsorship from Trump and MAGA supporters

A fantastic win after disappointment in round 2! Match is tied 1-1 after Levy uploads minutes faster than Hikaru.

    "Beautiful move, unnecessary."
    All beautiful moves are unnecessary.

it's obvious from his tone who was going to win. I wish he'd keep more suspense

Even tho I've watched the whole match live, I'll still watch your recap because it's always so good.

The Don Cherry of chess pulls through again.

Nepomniachtchi is also one of the 44 Russian chess masters who spoke up against Russia's invasion of Ukraine in a open letter to Putin in 2022 so he has my respect

Impressive win by Ian, looking forward to next games

a spectacular comeback and some bots talking about the stare, sadly

Nice videos, but maybe don't spoil the result at the title lol

17:07 Rook sacrifice so good it made Levy speak some voodoo language 😭

I was hoping that Ding Liren would take a lead in this championship match, because Ding plays well but falls apart mentally when losing (even more than most players who do so). I knew that Nepo at least has it in him to buckle down and make a comeback, even if it isn't something he's known for. I'm not sure that Ding does, so this match may already effectively be over. For Ding to get so far into his prep, watching Nepo walk into so much of it, and then lose anyway? Ding will lose all confidence now. Now I can only hope that Ding shows a side of himself I have never seen before.

As far as why the Nepo vs Liren match isn't exciting… it has little to do with Magnus, for me. I don't like the way Magnus plays chess – it is uninspired, though he's been starting to change that after announcing that he wanted to retire as champion. But I don't like Liren's chess either – it is too clean and straightforward, always just a winning tactic rather than positional brilliance. Nepo I like to watch. I'd have loved to see Nepo vs Wesley So. I'm hoping Nepo wins and that Wesley at some point gets his shot. Will be an exciting match if it ever happens.

It seems Ding is not up to the task at hand. If true, it will be a short and one sighted match. Sad to see.

Hard to believe I'm saying this, but you undersold the drama involved with this match.

After making the weird decision with the pawn on move 4, Ding got up and left the actual table, seemingly in disgust with himself. The commentors were suggesting it was a live action "mouse slip".

I couldn't tell if it was all an act, or he really just made a huge blunder in the opening.

Makes sense that one might try something crazy to get out of your opponents preparation, but…I don't know if that's what happened here.

Let's get honest, we all watched this video in order to see Gotham reacting to Ian's rook sacrifice

    “Yeah but you’re 400”

Excuse me sir, but I am 478 I’ll have you know.

Look for Ding to show up in the second half of the match. It might be too late but Ding needs time to adapt to the environment. He’s very sensitive. This sensitivity is often a burden but IF he manages to ground himself he can channel his senses and turn the match around. He’s insanely gifted.

Great win by Ian though. Well played.

THE ROOK!!!. Gotta love it man. Great game and even greater commentary.

Thanks for the recap Levy. Ever since the candidates tournament I have been looking forward to checking in on these recaps every day of the championship match.

2 things I wouldn't be watching the world chess championship if Magnus was in it because it was too predictable last time this time it would have been more so and I voted that I thought ding liren over nepo but now I am shaken

I love how ding prepares with these genius computers, and how he has these brilliant opening moves and Ian is like Preparation?, Nah I'm good I'll figure it out.

Ding did beat Aronjan in the same position playing Nc5 instead of Nf6. Only difference being Re1 instead of h3. He had Jan exactly where he wanted to have him. And then this. What a disaster.

bishop and knight are same 3 and you are internatioanl master you dont know??

The best thing about this match, I feel, is that Nepo is known for his lack of endurance over a tournament (although he was sublime in the candidates) and Ding comes good towards the end. I'm fascinated by how things will change. But from the offset looks like Ding is going to get blown off the board. Nepo is going to do what Magnus did to him

Levy’s ability to tell a story and make it seem like the most important epic thing in the world is a true gift that no-one in the chess space and few people on YouTube in any discipline can match.

Only been 2 games, but it kinda feels like it's already over. Part of that is that since it's usually Magnus involved and any win he gets means it's over, you're not beating him twice…
But to win this early, this convincingly, as Black, when Ding has admitted he's not in the right head space? He might crumble like Nepo did last time.
