The bars are temples but their pearls aren't free.

His younger brother spent seven seasons watching over a certain vampire slayer named Buffy.

Is this music really about chess?

This the brother of the actor Anothony Stewart head. Giles from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. 😲😲😲

Those song is so crazy and eclectic. Definitely very 80's. Went from old school music to synthy pop music with a monotone delivery thats constantly broken up. They don't make experimental shit like this anymore

Every day when this song comes on the radio, my mom asks me who sings it and I tell her I have no idea. I don't know why I can't tell her the truth.

All of us who are here for the chorus only! 🤷‍♂️

I woke up this morning with song in my head realizing this is one of the first rap songs with a singing chorus.

Q = QUEEN = HIGHEST INTELLIGENCE OPERATION EVER KNOWN ANYWHERE!!👑🐝

I am Thai citizen and when listening to your damn song made me so mad. Only one night in Thailand and don’t know shit about MY country. Look at your country before criticizing mine. In Thailand we don’t wear those types of hats, you see that in Vietnam and in China. Don’t come to MY country! 🤬😡

now imagine if the show indeed featured Yul Brynner…

Ah oui c était une belle chanson années 80 inoubliable en 2023 17 3 bye

I was born in 1980..I'm proud to be an 80s baby

This song reminds me of Bangkok and I book tickets, this has happened 5 times in last 2 years 😅

    Bangkok, Oriental setting
And the city don't know that the city is getting
The crème de la crème of the chess world
In a show with everything but Yul Brynner
Time flies, doesn't seem a minute
Since the Tyrolean Spa had the chess boards in it
All change, don't you know that when you
Play at this level, there's no ordinary venue?
    It's Iceland or the Philippines
    Or Hastings or
    Or this place

One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples, but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a God in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky, then the God's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me
    One town's very like another
When your head's down over your pieces, brother
    (It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity)
(To be looking at the board, not looking at the city)
    (What do ya mean?)
You've seen one crowded, polluted, stinking town
Tea, girls, warm and sweet (warm, sweet)
Some are set up in the Somerset Maugham suite
    Get Thai'd! You're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's among the purest
I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine
One night in Bangkok makes the hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me
    Siam's gonna be the witness
To the ultimate test of cerebral fitness
This grips me more than would a muddy old river
    Or reclining Buddha
And thank God I'm only watching the game, controlling it
I don't see you guys rating the kind of mate I'm contemplating
I'd let you watch, I would invite you
But the queens we use would not excite you
So you'd better go back to your bars
    Your temples, your massage parlours
One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples, but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a God in every golden cloister
A little flesh, a little history
I can feel an angel sliding up to me
One night in Bangkok makes the hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walkin' next to me

LIFE FROM KING JAMES BIBLE IN LONDON

Song sounds like he’s giving tourist guide info about Bangkok

Another 80s jam with a profound message within it.

This song is a master piece. 🤪the lady's sound super😎well.done

There's a reason they call it Bangkok and not bang kitty..😂

    一昨日ハマって姉と一緒に30回ぐらい聴きました

I was in bangkok in 1978 staying around the corner on soi 3 on sukhomvit road. loved it. had a hell of a time leaving. met the famous pop buell there. had a good time on patpong road. and at the small market up the road. finally met the beautiful woman of my dreams and took her to the beack for a couple of weeks. the atlanta hotel had a blackboard in the lobby with a message from a westerner doing 20 years for drugs. he wanted people to visit him and bring cigarettes. would be happy to go back. but you cannot go back. was in chang mai when the war between vietnam and the kymer rouge spilt over into thailand. read a story in the bangkok post about a factory burning down and all the young girls burnt to death because they were chained to their machines and could not escape. some people would sell their daughters. the world is so different in different countries. the son of the italian ambassador was caught with a bunch of heroin.. pretty wild and very beautiful women.

This is the greatest song about the game of Chess that has ever been made.

Can't wait to get back to Krung Thep–AKA Bangkok–later this year! 😉

I never get tired of "i get my kicks above the waistline sunshine"

    壮大なイントロの後に単調なリズムに変わるのがクセになる😂

    Vrhunska glazba. Pozdrav iz Hrvatske

Great song – unique – never will forget. Ashame it is not PC.

He also played Poncias Pilates in Jesus Christ Superstar..he sang the most famous song Superstar.

Ah this was the classic in the 1980s but have you listened to (one night in Dubai) the only difference is it is English and when sung live it is in (Arabic).

All the pathetic child predators who visit THAILAND!
    This song always reminds me.
