The 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship is a 14-game match taking place in the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 9-30 between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, who finished 1st and 2nd in the 2022 Candidates Tournament. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen has chosen not to defend his title. The first player to reach 7.5 points wins, while a 7:7 tie will be decided by a playoff. The prize fund is €2 million, split 60:40, or 55:45 if it goes to a playoff. No draw offers are allowed until after move 40.

Each player has 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting only from move 61. A playoff will consist of four 25-minute games, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If still tied, up to two pairs of 5+3 games will be played. If tied again, single 3+2 games are played, with colours reversed each game, until one player wins.

You can't offer a draw before move 40, but you can repeat moves unforced, which still leads to a draw.

    What's the difference?

Any one knows why Ian-Nipo always that's have smile

I always wanted to ask about the #2992
Any idea why agadmator always puts it in the description

#suggestion Pavel Eljanov VS Wesley So | Titled Tuesday Blitz | April 11 Early 2023 | Round 5

    Great endgame.

Ding gave a lot of pressure but I think failed to capitalize using a risky play. Probably the smart thing to do. He seemed to be in control with the black pieces the entire game.

Ding is always solid in these type of positions. Good way to rebound from game 2.

Ding gone messed up, should have played on

Ding and Nepo are so relaxed in the photo because they’re not playing Magnus 😂

This is why Carlsen don't want to be bothered. Haha.

    Where's medo?… he's been missing for a while.hope he's good

The way you present chess games is the best on YouTube, calm, with lots of details and side lines, explaining every move.
I watch you videos everyday, you became part of my daily routine.
Keep it up agadmator, you may not the biggest chess channel, but your the best chess channel.

Hello everyone, nο Μagnus no exciting game!👎

This is turning into one of the great championships…

still after five years my fav chess content channel, thanks for not overhyping and always sticking to just a few smart variations

If Nepo wanted to win this game after Ne2 he would have castled queenside.

I remember Mir. The Soviet/Soviet-related cosmonauts did some very long missions.

    There is hope for Ding

Bobby Fischer made a terrible start

“Fischer lost the first two games in strange fashion: the first when he played a risky pawn-grab in a drawn endgame, the second by forfeit when he refused to play the game in a dispute over playing conditions.”

Kasparov was 4-0 down to Karpov in 1984

Ding needs to be aggressive with the white pieces in game 4.

This game is sick, both players memorizing any lines that they didn’t prep and making top engine moves as is mere mortals gaze onward in blissful wonder.

Where is Nepo‘s flag?? Ffs stupid Western nitty politics. Shame on FIDE.

I subscribed the channel during the pandemic lockdowns and I was beginner in chess. Last weekend I reached the rating of 1550 with help of Agadmator. Thank you.

I feel some kind of fear in game. weak. I expected more courage and risk – they battle for world chempion title.

I am the one waiting for Game 6
    🔥🧊 anyone?

love the photos at the beginning. nice touch.

Can you let us know the score at the start of each video. Love the videos

What's up Agadmator? Is This W.C.C. going to be Boring or Non- intriguing or What? If You will. Ding doesn't seem to be imagitive or clever in His Chess Playing. If He's going to stop having Continual Draws, He's got to be more creative and daring on the C. Board. He can't be so eager to agree to draws or to keep finding Drawn Positions. I wish Magnus would have given Nepo a chance to prove Himself from the First Encounter of W.C.Champship when He dominated Nepo. I think Nepo would have been a more worthy Opponent this time around. And at least it would be more intriguing and Watch- Worthy then the Match- Up now. I think by now it's a foregone conclusion Who's gonna win this W.C.Champship Match, and it's surely is not Ding. Have a good one, ☮️ out. Freeman from the States The United States that is.

Shorter is better. Maybe I can finish this vid…

I’m feel a bit sorry for Nepo. Imagine you’re 6 years old and you have to learn how to spell Nepomniachtchi

Not a game that could qualify as a WCC match . I don't know much about the GMs game but when I saw queens gambit declined I felt I ll have to see crazy lines but the irony is they stopped playing it when the game was actually getting spicy . Wish ding played that b5 move n made the game exciting . Nevertheless not a boring game by any means . Expecting blockbusters as we go forward .Comeon Ding . Rooting for u

Boring game. Boring world championship match.

When Anand beat Kasparov to take lead in their title match, Kasparov retaliated in the next game. That was Kasparov. This is Ding.

God I love this channel this might be the most non-toxic community in the history of YouTube

Just a comment. I like the commentary, however there are so many alternate tangents explored that I lose track of the original game. The side – "what ifs" shouldn't be greater then the actual moves played.

So in Go they don't allow players to repeat the position. I don't think anyone likes all these WCC matches with draws. Hmmm, how could we stop the draws.

Nepo in the lead to determine the second best player in the world

Ding is playing scared. He’s not playing to win he’s playing not to lose.

Sorry just too many "what If's" I just can't follow what moves were really played, dial it back a little please…

is anyone actually watching the WC knowing that it no longer represents the highest level of chess in the world? its just a random 1on1 tournament nowadays…

I don't understand why Ding didn't just play the best moves.

He would literally win every time if he did.
