00:00 Hello Everyone!
The 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship is a 14-game match taking place in the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 9-30 between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, who finished 1st and 2nd in the 2022 Candidates Tournament. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen has chosen not to defend his title. The first player to reach 7.5 points wins, while a 7:7 tie will be decided by a playoff. The prize fund is €2 million, split 60:40, or 55:45 if it goes to a playoff. No draw offers are allowed until after move 40.
Each player has 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting only from move 61. A playoff will consist of four 25-minute games, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If still tied, up to two pairs of 5+3 games will be played. If tied again, single 3+2 games are played, with colours reversed each game, until one player wins.

This has been some match series, a real mental arm wrestle, to think that Nepo took a whole load of time to make his opening moves and then flags Ding, is an astonishing feat, in fact I think he took his time for the last three moves just to savour the win.
Speed chess sure has made the classical game more interesting, I think Ding got himself stuck between a rock and hard place.
Brilliant Chess from Nepo, that evaluation bar on the live feed is very misleading, as it relied on Ding defending almost perfectly, whilst giving Ian lots of options to make Ding think and chew up the clock.
Wish you a speedy recovery Antonio, thanks for the awesome content as always!
Time management is probably the most important discipline in professional chess! And today, Ding failed in it! Deserved win for Nepo!
I love the wild west shootout this match has become.
Man chess is hard
You used to prepare a cup of water just in case.
Seeing French being played was quite a surprise, for two reasons, one Agad said and the other one being related to Nepo's second, Nikita Vitiugov, who is considered to be very strong French defense theoretician, having written 2 books on it. I'm thinking this was an attempt of throwing the gauntlet at Team Nepo's face…
Thank you for the video on the same day despite your bad throat .❤
So many decisive games!
I can't tell if all these decisive games are because this is the best championship ever or the worst because if you're the top chess players in the world, you should be drawing a lot of games……..
Agad's daughter is in kindergarten already? It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming "a completely new person" into the world.
There is a problem when each game has a decisive result in a world championship match. I assume many would find this statement bizarre , but this is how I think, and no matter what, the final two candidates for the world championship should be able hold themselves and the positions better… so it may be pleasant for the audience to watch games like this but it is highly questionable for the quality of the world championship match…
Isn't it ironic that in the previous video you mocked the people who just wanted to SeE thE MOveS and yet here you are making an exact such video now.
I think dingi was right, he is not as professional as Maglose.
It was dings game.
The strain may be showing, with Ding apparently suffering a cognitive crash and Agadmators voice collapsing with the work load of analysis. Be5 was recommended by the commentators and Nepo agreed it could have lead to serious problems in the interview. As a result Anish etc were convinced Ding had suffered a brain freeze, but Ding claimed he simply did not see a good enough move in the position (to prioritise the clock) so possibly he had rejected Be5 for what may be good reasons. Of course we do not want either contestant to collapse from the mental effort, with crashing out of the match in a metaphorical flaming ruin. The games are much too entertaining with outstanding back and forth action.
7:57 why not c4?
Get better quickly! I suggest taking a vitamin D tablet to boost your immune system and a hot tea to burn off the invaders in your throat!
get better, Mr Agadmator !! plenty of color offered in the review even in twelve minutes. Great job.
a win is a win
Agadmator can't be stopped by kindergarten!
how was Nepo flagging Ding here? For what reasons did Ding have to spend 5 minutes for this move, having 8 more moves to spend and not being sure he can force a checkmate within the time he had, but nevertheless go for it? There are maybe not too many reasons for Ian to be proud of this win but here this sounds a bit like he should even feel ashamed for answering fast to a bad choice by Ding
I wonder if Ding will drop Rappaport now… he wasn't playing his own game I feel
What is flagging? Sorry to ask.
"Ding Ding Ding!": the clock, dude!
Thank you for the video!
I personally like the shorter version.
Get well soon, Agad! Many thanks for your commitment to showing us these games despite your sore throat /
Thank you for the Video Agad, wishing you and your voice a speedy recovery so you can speak with your friends at the bar and the library again!
You are a true soldier of the game. Feel better soon.
This WCC is a bad joke. Shame on you, FIDE.
I'm so used to seeing these top chess guys perform like machines under pressure that this felt weird. Ding really froze and it surprised me that he could have such a human response.
In My country Indonesia, Problem with voice can be normally again with:
1. a lime (something acid like lime or green small orange) + a water(better warm not cold)
2. not to smoking (if yous still smoking i just give up to advice you)
3. Milk and a little sugar
4. Again, all of this advice not to certain cold water. Just warm water, or a normal water like a minerale.
kindergarten they are germ factories. Good effort on doing anything.
I figured out what is wrong with agadmator's recent videos! It is the new camera position! It needs more zooming on his face and to be on a slight angle
Ding is the more dynamic player. I still favor him to win.
Magnus will be back next year. He will want to dethrone the champion to show who's the boss. That will be his motivation.
Wonderful game by lan.
