00:00 Hello Everyone!

The 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship is a 14-game match taking place in the St. Regis Astana Hotel in Astana, Kazakhstan on April 9-30 between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, who finished 1st and 2nd in the 2022 Candidates Tournament. Reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen has chosen not to defend his title. The first player to reach 7.5 points wins, while a 7:7 tie will be decided by a playoff. The prize fund is €2 million, split 60:40, or 55:45 if it goes to a playoff. No draw offers are allowed until after move 40.

Each player has 120 minutes for 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting only from move 61. A playoff will consist of four 25-minute games, with a 10-second increment from move 1. If still tied, up to two pairs of 5+3 games will be played. If tied again, single 3+2 games are played, with colours reversed each game, until one player wins.

Thanks for pushing through the kindergarten illness to give this game. Hope you feel better soon!
Also agad: Il do a short video because I can barely speak.
Also also agad: proceeds to make a 13 minute video because he can't contain his joy describing the game. Nearly dies near the end 😅

What is up with Ding and his time management?

I don't think it's the end of the world for Ding, after all he dominated this game with the black pieces! He lost due to his own mistake and not due to being outplayed by Nepo. I would still give Ding more chances to win this WC.

Agad your dedication is outstanding. Get well soon in order to finish this excellent commentary on the 2023 WCC. If there was a Chess Commentary Hall of Fame, your work would be up there with the greats.

Get well soon Agad, and thanks for the video. Will be waitin for the full video 👍

What does flagging mean in chess? New to this.

Agadmator is wrong. After Qxc5 black has Bd4!, and it is black, not white, with winning position.

Very exciting match. But one wonders with all the fireworks if this is more of a brawl than a classic fight game. Hard to imagine this kind of play (flagging) in WCC games from years gone by.

This is not WCC level of play… no wonder Magnus got tired of crushing ppl like Nepo, Ding, etc

Ding, if you're reading this, please find more confidence within yourself! No man is better than you. Except of course Magnus

This WCC match is great. The fans are the true winners! Who thinks Magnus won’t be able to resist climbing through the ranks to challenge the title? It will be a new goal for the GOAT

Magnus stepping down is the best thing to have happened to chess

@5:38 why doesn't Ding just fork the knight and bishop with p-f6?

Thanks for the analysis … get well soon. 🙂

Nepo wasn't flagging, that is his usual play style. He can't calculate too deep, following his intuition instead. Ding calculates everything. Sometimes one is better, sometimes other.

Wow, incredible analysis! Hope the voice gets better quickly.

outside of the one special Ding win this has been a really poor WCC. Magnus would beat these two at the same time

Brought something back from the kindergarten 😂sorry to hear that. Also sad that ding didn't win even though he pushed so nicely

don't worry agadmator , you're still too rich

Get well Agadamator, thanks for the great commentary as always!

    32. …..Rd2 is just mystifying to me. Spent all that time, and then didn't play the fairly obvious 32……Be5.

With Agadmator's increased usage of "some" I'm pretty confident he's been watching Anna Cramling videos with her mom. Pia Cramling uses "some" a lot and exactly the same way.

Is flagging your opponent considered unfair?

Chess fans are so annoying. Ding wins a game and they say he is the clear favorite, Ding loses a game and they say there is no bouncing back from this. There is still plenty of chess to be played

8 moves left with only 45 seconds left on the clock…did Ding fall off the egg drop soup wagon as a child?

    Saw this game live.
This game was both exciting and heartbreaking.
I am rooting for Nepo but I feel bad for Ding.

I was rooting for Ding the whole time, but after this game anyone can see that he’s not mentally prepared for such an event. He’s always been a meek dude. Hopefully he gets more experience and comes back in two years

My French defense is a croissant and then I warm it up with the Dutch defense…a healthy slice of gouda…

Just play the first 10 moves like you are playing bullet that'll beat the clock and spend time calculating later

What is flagging? Is it a bad way to win or something?

Fide changed the time controls to encourage this stuff I hope they are happy

Is it only me or is there anyone else that feels like 30% of the times Agad mentions Ding he says "the Ding" for example 0:04

This doesn't feel like watching a WCC, it feels like watching a bareknuckle bar fight

Well there it is out of the Horse's mouth "they are not as Professional as Magnus. According to my comment when the 1st game started for Championship. I said their great Players Super GM's but something is missing in both of them. So who ever win the championship gonna be harder next year for Championship. Cause non of them has what it takes to be 3,4,5 champion in a row like Kasparov, Anand, Calsen.. so people were Arguing last time against my Comment. We'll 1,2 of them… so it mean is u guys cant see in the Future and dont know really how Ding and Nepo is playin' but ya in the end everybody deserve to be a champion. But still there's lots of worx to be done by Ding and Nepo to be 3,4,5 time Champion🙏

Nepo can't seem to get over 2800, he's been 2799 or thereabouts for a long time. Magnus maintaining about 2850 really shows how strong he is because anything less than a win will lose him points and still he's been there like forever while others can't maintain their 2800 ratings.

Lost his voice by screaming from the cheering section after every move…
