Punishing Beginner Mistakes | Ponziani Opening

Watch live on Twitch: — Follow to get notified when I go live!
In this video I play a rapid chess game against fellow Twitch Streamer vengaard_live () who is a relatively new to chess— only been playing for ~3 months! In the game, I unleash the Ponziani Opening and proceed to show no mercy. I hope this game provides some instructional value when it comes to exploiting common beginner mistakes and using basic tactics to seize the advantage. Towards the end of the game (once I achieved a decisive material advantage) I put more of my focus towards answering various questions from the Twitch Chat. After the game, I provide some basic tips and advice and show how black could have improve the opening play against the Ponziani.

13:00 minute. Why you don't take with your Queen the e7 (Bishop), instead of playing the Knight?

Novice question—for move 10, would advancing the knight to f7 have been good? Discovered attack on his queen + fork of rooks ?

What’s the best online chess site to play real people?

Talking about beginners mistakes, and yet… 0:36 moves a piece and plays another one? Now THAT is a beginner's mistake, man.

Wow amazing insight im a begginer that loves chess as a game because of the strategy logic etc involved in it and endless options to move so im trying to learn to play it and this type of videos are amazing for literal begginers like me to lets us understand the thinking behind the move thx so much keep the amazing videos coming subbed bell on and followed on twitch. Keep it up. Have an amazing week everyone.

Chess does not improve focus, it worsens it. Everytime I try to do something, I want to play chess so I can't focus on the task at hand

What is the software that you are using to project the board on the screen?

Quick question, at 9:25 why do you consider a6 to be the first “really big blunder”? Is it just because there was a better more preventative move he SHOULD have made to avoid the situation that came after, or is it because there was something inherently wrong with moving that pawn that allowed for the situation to occur? Because that pawn did not prevent the situation, but it does not seem to me that it directly enabled it..

Me (Beginner): Movin a pown 2 steps

Gm: hes traying the harscan taktic on me

    Me: moves a secound pown

Gm: No way he switched from harscan tactic to the dubbel pown menuever

Me: who has no idea What i did feeling my self

Are you 5up?? Like, I didn't realize till the end of the video where you mentioned Hafu

queen d5 would have been an extremely better move than queen d6

I love how much it reminds me of fire emblem, I just started learning and I'm realizing this game is so much more complex than I thought. The app I use gives me instructions on how each piece moves and how to play, but the more I learn, the more I see that I have much more to learn. I cant wait til I can play half as good as you. I just ditched yugioh and want a new hobby, and chess has always enticed me but never tried to learn.

@Eric What was the name of the GM with the obscure openings? I am sorry, not a native speaker and I have no idea how to spell what you said …

Great show!…but I’m OUT. Too many ADS!!!

Why Rc7 instead of Qc7 in 20:06? It would be mate with Bd5 if Ka8, or Bc4 with Ka6.

Ok so if the first guy i counted as beginner then i am a super noob

"can you play home by phillip phillips"
I see that someone is a man of culture…

Damn. Samvel Sevian. He used to train with us when he was younger, pre gm. ACA with Andranik Matikozyan. It’s been a hot minute.

"I'll just have to live with the D pawn for now, change my name to Derick." Why did I laugh so hard at that?? 😂

I love the way he says “photo” I listened to it like 6 times to make sure I was hearing it right

At 14:17 you should concede. Even as a beginner, I know that. :p

wrong move , queen or bishop should be moved to D5 , not D6

"Probly the E pawn, right? E for Eric? So I'll just have to live with the D pawn for now; change my name to Derek." I laughed way too hard at this.

I love these types of videos, Eric – thanks!

Online chess is far inferior to normal chess. I can’t flip the board in anger.

what will happen if he moves be6 to bd5 when u are in this position 8:21

Oh 5up how I’ve craved to know how good you were at chess. Turns out… very

10:32, would've knight to f8 been a better move? I'm trying to learn, can someone please help

I watched the Queen's Gambit i know what is going on
