Punishing Beginner Mistakes | Ponziani Opening

Watch live on Twitch: — Follow to get notified when I go live!
In this video I play a rapid chess game against fellow Twitch Streamer vengaard_live () who is a relatively new to chess— only been playing for ~3 months! In the game, I unleash the Ponziani Opening and proceed to show no mercy. I hope this game provides some instructional value when it comes to exploiting common beginner mistakes and using basic tactics to seize the advantage. Towards the end of the game (once I achieved a decisive material advantage) I put more of my focus towards answering various questions from the Twitch Chat. After the game, I provide some basic tips and advice and show how black could have improve the opening play against the Ponziani.

If he would have move the queen next to white knight tables would have turn 👍@5:40

It seems like I know your next movement but I can't do shit in the actual game

soooooooooooooooooooooo many freakin ads…………….. it's criminal to having watched these…..eric…tell youtube to avoid stooping so low….its mindrape…

I guess we didn't get the Robert Hess v. Eric picture

well eric you dont play that well i must say

It is pronounced Lichess like Leeches, because you get your rating leeched away 😀 😀

You can make videos in Hebrew?

7:21 isn't Knightf7 better than BishopF4? genuinely asking since I'm new to chess.

Bro I love this guys vibe just chill asf. Excuse me if you feel a certain way about weed but I really want you to play blitz blitzed lol

10 minute timers and half the video being up 2 pieces, so slow

Marking on chess board when playing online hampers your analyzing ability , when you playing on the board.

I like your videos but I think if you are going to spend the 22 minutes talking to chat you might wanna show the chat in the video

who was the GM with obscure openings that he mentioned?

8:01 would Bc5 be more threatening than a mere pawn attack?

Yo Rosen sup?! I watched your game against IM Nava (Rodtwinkz is his character name). I noticed that out of 4 games you played with in Lichess Bullet games you only won 1 game and managed to get lucky in game 3 with a stalemate which he regretted. Lol

"this looks fun, the Botez gambit, but not necessary" 😅😅😅

I've finally seen ponziani opening,, thank u for sharing with us❤️❤️❤️

cant stand your voice for longer than 5 minutes

Your swallowing noises are annoying and I can’t watch. Other than that good info and video was instructional for what I saw

Him: "I don't want to say his possible bad moves… He might be watching the stream…"
Also him: (casually says his master queen capture plans like he is alone)

    6th move, I thought about Ba6 instead Bb5.

I beat someone in 9 or 10 moves in chess

Wouldn't a pretty good move by black have been Bd5 at 6:51 ? or maybe even after the next move? If Qg4, you go f5, can castle afterwards and if queen moves elsewhere you win the g2 pawn and can still castle to move the knight freely. After the white Bishop on f4, i feel white will always be up the exchange or in a much better position…..

If you translate Free in Philippines means " Libre"

8:50 knight f7 fork. He takes queen. You take queen. He takes bishop. You take rook

i've never seen a single chess video on youtube, this just randomly showed up as a suggestion and for some reason i decided 2 AM is a good time to watch chess, and surprisingly i enjoyed it a lot, great video, very instructive, i have just a base knowledge of chess rules and i've learned a lot from this single video, good work!

The clean pastor likely add because eight superfamily race upon a jumbled battery. dear, tenuous slope

I love watching you play, but I'm a little confused about something. You mentioned that you didn't want to reveal how black could have made better moves in response to your position. If that's the case, then it seems like you're not really trying to teach anything. And if you're not trying to teach anything, then it seems the purpose of this video is just to show us that you can beat people with a much lower rank than yours.

Wouldn't 7 Be6-d5 have put you back to even?

11:48 can someone explain to me why he took with the bishop and not the queen ?

I'm currently reading Nimzowitsch book, My system, and while I'm only at the very beginning of the book it already helped me tremendously, and I can testify of that because my level already improved but also because I can comprehend a little better games played by some experimented in chess such as this one, keeping a strong center control and pressured, moving a piece to the right square to win a tempo or some tempi, prophylaxis, liquidation, freeing moves… I'm pretty sure by the end of the book I will be way better.

And I strongly advise for people who want to be better at chess to study extensively chess principles, and to not restrict yourself to learning opening lines, tactics and endgame theory. This is necessary, but the most obscure middlegame and studying the whole breadth and depth of chess principles, especially if you think you know them, is the key to a better understanding of chess, not only a better understanding of the game as such but rather an improved vision of the art of chess.

    Nice video Eric, thanks.
