Punishing Beginner Mistakes | Ponziani Opening

Watch live on Twitch: — Follow to get notified when I go live!
In this video I play a rapid chess game against fellow Twitch Streamer vengaard_live () who is a relatively new to chess— only been playing for ~3 months! In the game, I unleash the Ponziani Opening and proceed to show no mercy. I hope this game provides some instructional value when it comes to exploiting common beginner mistakes and using basic tactics to seize the advantage. Towards the end of the game (once I achieved a decisive material advantage) I put more of my focus towards answering various questions from the Twitch Chat. After the game, I provide some basic tips and advice and show how black could have improve the opening play against the Ponziani.

this guy's memory is wild. he can recall that he was in this exact position against this specific player like 10 years ago.

    "I enjoy adding pressure"
    This guy actually a psycho😂

At 6:33 (correct me if im wrong) the best move from black would have been bishop to d5

    Hi Eric, Hi Everyone!

Could some1 tell me why you would not play Bishop G5 @ 6:20?
I thought it would be nice to apply pressure to C7.
Please Notice: Im the worst player ever so dont judge to much, just started 😀

Thanks in advance and have a nice Day every1!

So just stumbled on this: but do you just play "complex and hope for blunders" or are you playing with a strategic point? Slightly moot question on such insanely fast speeds: you don't even have time to say what you play. Let alone think a few good moves ahead.

    "it's not pronounced lichess" it's pronounced "leeches":D

I like seeing you play the ponziani, but you have to stop lol this is my main opening, and more people are not falling for my tricks

hi, I just got my new highest level of 1,130 🙂 Hopefully It will continue to grow and I won't jinx anything bad. 🙂 Good luck, chess is fun, once you have a tactic.

Honestly your opponent should have resigned a long time ago. Common spin the board already

and i thought lichess came from a wordplay on lychee for some reason LMAO

It’s a shame that Vengaard missed that the Queen was subject to uncovered attack. I thought maybe he’d seen it when attacking the Queen with the pawn. Ok he still had the worst of it until then but avoid the Queen issue and it’s still competitive

Stop the chatting. It is distracting. Can you just focus on the game?

The game was going so well I didn’t see him take the first rook!

How can I play with you i would really like to play with you

Considering how lopsided this game was, material-wise, Black held on for an amazing amount of time.

Close… Libre (Lee-breh) does mean free but in this case, the logo is a rabbit and formal Spanish rabbit is Liebre (Lee-eh-breh).

How to play here? What is the website or the Link to play? 🙂🙂🙂

At 9:02 wouldn't knight to f7 be the best since if he takes queen so do you and then you can take a rook.

Hey I do not mean to be derogatory cause I love your content, but your mic placement picks up your swallows something fierce…

I think after Bf4, Qd5 is best. It frees the queen from a potential discovered attack and offers a trade of queens. Diffusing the tension built up in the center.

Gotta say i have hit a gold mine such a relaxing video love it!

i think opponnent was a sleeper..like higher rated but not shown

5:10 bishop D5? X-rays the pawn on G2, and defends the knight again with a threat on the queen. It is also guarded by the other knight. That said, I feel like there’s something I’m missing.

BENNIR 3 months!!! I’m only learned chess in playing time for like 10 hours in total

I’ve become addicted to chess lately… I don’t even know why

14:01 instead of putting the knight there why not putt the pawn above the guy in the bottom right to the bottom right of the bishop putting it in a position where if it doesn’t take the pawn it will lose and if they do take the pawn the now freed castle thing can swoop in and take it trapping the queen and giving the QUUEN no place to go

“So This is his first big blunder” *me thinking it was a good move 1,5 minutes before he did it… feels bad

At 7:55 you could’ve moved the night to f7 and pinned both rooks and queen while also taking a pawn
