the story of Ding Liren is one of the most incredible stories in chess of all time

One cannot help but admire this man. He is one of the humblest guys in chess, yet had to go through some of the hardest times in chess but persisted through. Amazing!! It would have been so heartbreaking had Ding lost Game 18. He worked so hard, and I'm glad he got to where he did. He is not just a champion of chess, but a champion of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Ding liren is straight up an anime protagonist. He had a 1 in a million shot to become world champion and he clutched up with ice in his veins during that rapid game. What a guy.

I dreamt of Ding becoming a title contender and even becoming the new world chess champion ever since his Sinquefield Cup win against Magnus in 2019.
Can't believe it has already been 4 years, and can't believe that after ups and downs, Ding pulled it through and won the WCC tiebreaks. An absolutely amazing journey.
