He recorded the original soundtrack album in 1985 and 25 years later hasn't lost any of his power, even in the same key! All other versions of this song pale into insignificance
Just listened to Philip Quast, Josh Groban, and Michael Ball versions of this song, and Tommy Korberg just seems to caress, phrase, and sing this song better. I'm ashamed to say that I hadn't heard him sing before. Beautiful version.
This is a beautiful song. The first time I saw the musical "Chess" I was in college, and attended with a Lithuanian friend of mine. We were both deeply moved by the song, it moved her to tears. Though the lyrics are written about the Russians, it could also have been written for the Baltic states that were annexed by the Soviets. After the fall of the Soviet Union, I had a chance to visit Lithuania during the freedom festivals that celebrated Lithuania's separation from the Soviet Union. Words can't describe the nationalistic pride they felt as they raised their own flag again, and were once again able to speak Lithuanian in public.
The greatest singer no one thinks about when great singers are considered. Magnificent in every way – range, tone, dynamics, emotion. And how he draws in sufficient breath to hold that final note in that brief moment before "my" is amazing.
I love Tommy's version the best because of his passion. Josh does a fine job because his voice is so polished. Check out Jai McDowall as well since his voice is beautiful and depicts raw talent.
Sometimes there is a Part of life how is so tender und so nice to listing. ….h See this wundervoll Song of the Musical chess….. IT is just one of a some tracks all Arena so full of life. ….please chere it!
It doesn´t get any better or greater!
The original voice of this magical, majestic song and still, by far the best.
"I Mitt Hjärtas Land" Lyrics
Chess
ANATOLIJ:
All världens riken byggs på lösan sand

Fantastic! Thank you for posting!
cringing at the electric guitar. it is not needed. the song is already beautiful. the guitar just clashes.
Fantastic version! – But kindly check out Stig Rossens version as well (Tommys double) – I'm in jeopardy which version is best…

for those out there who don't know…
Benny and Bjorn are the two "B" in ABBA!!!
Best, best song and performer. Tommy Korberg is a 10. The choice of Josh Groban to sing this in the 2011 Broadway performance was egregious.
what is CHESS?

This would be my favorite version if not for the AWFUL, off-pitch backup singer at 2:50
bravaaa!!!
1:50 he still does the weight-shifting thing, like he did 22 years prior 😀 ?v=ZRfwtKVZk0g
Ingen dålig "Pipa" här heller !
Everytime I listen to this I wanna start up Civilization 🙂 I dont know why but I guess its something patriotic growing inside of me

Our male choir at school is singing this and oh my gosh it is beautiful
And I thought Josh Groban sang this well…

So many have tried to sing this but no one ever never come near Tommy K. This is his song 4 ever.
I always seem to come back to this video when I'm trying to find incredible songs to listen to. 🙂
Tommy and Elaine, what a powerful singing duet. Brings tears to my eyes whenever I hear it.
Josh sings opera , both voice and performance , this is not an opera!
Något pucko mixade fram körsångerskorna utavbarahelvete…
Colm Wilkinson's version is far superior to either Tommy's or Josh's.
It is the theme of a broadway show, later released as a program on ETV.
It is "Chess" by the boys of ABBA
Listen to this version when he was younger and you will hear it. Search on:
Anthem (Recording Season 1983)

Divine,Tommy!!
this song i did sing in a wedding in Oscar Frediks church for a marrying couple as a main singer. really love it.
Beautifull!! It really sounds like an anthem, part from the lyrics!
If this was the theme to a movie it would win for best song.
Everyone rise for the real national anthem of Sweden!
