I recall being so proud of myself the day I learned how to set up all the pieces from memory. Then I learned about ELO ratings…

I just started playing chess and That video made me realise i have no future in the game as everything i said was wrong): i will still enjoy watching gothem at least

1:04:16 so I’m a complete novice(highest ELO at the time of this comment I’ve achieved is 656 lol) so maybe I’m not seeing things as clearly and strategically, but I just have a question about this specific position.

You are calculating white can bring knight to D6, and debating which piece to take the pawn on E5 with right?

Now maybe I’m a noob and don’t know anything about chess but one move I saw you had with your queen as black was queen to B8, and the only reason I felt like that might be a move is that if the game progresses similarly enough to how it does as you ended up playing it, your queen would find its way to g2, and B8 sets that up along with capturing e5.

Of course the complicated nature of a high level game is that the opponent will be fairly accurate in responding to these moves, I just wanted to share what I was seeing and whether queen B8 in that position is a maneuver that might set up the white king on H1 preemptively?

You’re the IM here so I’m probably wrong but I want to ask it anyway.

Wow, that game with the 1350 is pure genius, Levy. I didn't see that beautiful queen sac. I subscribed to your channel after the Queen's Gambit movie, like thousands of other people did, and been learning lots of cool stuff.

I'm steadily going up the rating (now 1250) and hoping to keep improving by watching more of your videos. Thanks, Levy, I'm in awe.

Happy New Year to you and your family, sir.

This is my favorite video by Gotham in a long time! Missing the teaching videos!

Very nice instructive format. Thank you! Happy New Year!!

1125 in rapid, 1118 in blitz. I'll come back to this thread if I make it to 1500 before the end of the year.

    Hello!
I started playing chess yesterday after the inspiration I got from viewing some of GothamChess videos. Really good work!
at 7:15 he says he could Castle-Long, but the white bishop attacks b8, which prevents Castle-Long for him. Am i right? Just tring to understand the basics 🙂

This is the best video you have put out in a LONG time! Hope the New Year brings many more like this

Today I beat a bot rated 1100 first try, but my ELO is 575 against humans and I regularly lose aganst opponents at my same rating… why?

This was a great video! Learned a lot as a 800! Thanks Levy! 💚

I love most of your content, but this kind of video is my absolute favorite. Thanks for all you do, and keep up the great work!

At the end of game 3 what’s the sequence if queen takes pawn?

Have you seen the cat bots? Challenge mittens. Please.

Can somebody please tell me that from which website i can find the ongoing chess tournaments PGN files.

    Thank you

whats the defense you used against the lodon called? the one where you had pawns d5 and c5.

26:18 isn’t knight e4 a good move?, I mean the queen is hung but the forks on white r insane

At 1min 58 sec left why not go d1? Why go d2

Loved this episode, you're a fantastic teacher

I was once 1700 and now I'm struggling against 1400s.. Does this happen to all?? :'(

Searching your historical videos I don't see anything about Mikhail Tal which would be great with your commentary. This will be my recommendation if you find this appealing.

These win at chess episodes have really come a long way. This was an amazing episode!

How do we get him to review our games ?? I just played a game and I’m curious ?

33:19 if nxd3 then nxe6 attacking the queen and room and setting up rg1 pinning the queen to the king and you'll at least win a piece or two.
51:39 Qe6 and if rxe6 then you'll play fxe6 and the queen is pinned with a winning position and if they disregard it then just Qg8+ ke7, re1+ kd7 or kd8, Qxe8#.

Just crushed(obliterated) my opponent after watching this video(bloody levels of 150(hundred 50) 5+0) . Not necessarly thanks to information in it, but partially tanks my opponent mistake and me being positively charged after watching this video and being agressove enough, lol. Oh man, it feels good. I imagine it like I watched venerables cultivating in some cultivation ranobe, and some of that wisdom permiated my iron brains, lol.

Love this series! I'm pretty sure this is episode 24 – (unless I can't find that episode bc it has a clickbait title?)

i know no one will ever see this comment but idc. happy new year yall, hope you had a wonderful new years eve and also i wanted to say thenk you to Levy for being such a wonderful youtuber and giving such funny content almost every day, or even every day, i watch your videos every time i see a new video came out. Because of his videos and his Guess the elo and how to lose at chess i laughed so hard the last year, and i also got from 700elo to 1250 in both blitz and rapid. So i know i said it like 10 times in this comment, but i want to give Levy a HUGE THANK YOU for his hard work on youtube and twitch❤️

You should play fps chess…. You would love it…….

I LOVE watching games like this. When I see stuff you talk about I feel smart.

my moves solely depend on the opponents not realising the bishop and queen i moved after they castle

At 27:33 is Knight f3 by white a good move? The bishop on h4 is defended. If Nxc3, then Rxd8 and the rook is defended by the bishop and the knight on c3 is hanging.

    @1:06:30
Most of the time when I have central pawn I will win because I will put pressure on the three other pawns on the queen side..that's the beauty of caro-kann..but sometimes in the opening I don't know how to react to different approaches to white's move..
Also c and f pawn will usually act as a pawn breaker to break white's glued-double pawn in the center..
So this makes castling short or long is a difficult decision..

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May I ask in the first game at 2:02 wasn't it a mate if you put your d8 rook on d1? Or would the king be able to escape? I really enjoy your channel Levy! Thanks

Really nice tactic at 52:35 that illustrates the difference between a good player and a great one.
