Just so you are aware, that phrase "margin of error" is an eggcorn (or acorn) it's more understandable when the original phrase "margin FOR error" is spoken. A lower margin for error is risker whereas the higher margin for error is more lenient. 🙂 now you know!

The problem is that Hans has to play lots of insanely underrated players. Hes not getting invited to any big tournaments anymore due to Magnus' unfounded allegations which means he is always one of the top rated players in the tournaments meaning any loss or draw will mean lots of lost rating. Its almost impossible to catch up to the top guys playing 2300-2500s because you need to win with such ridiculous margins. Especially in classical there are lots of draws which hurts him a lot.
I still respect his grind in the low level tournaments because theres nothing you can do if you dont get invited anywhere.
