The 2024 Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T. Challenge is an over-the-board Chess960 classical tournament featuring Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Alireza Firouzja, Fabiano Caruana, Gukesh, and more. The Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T. Challenge consists of a rapid and a main event, both in the Chess960 variant. In total, there is a $200,000 prize pool to be played for at the Weissenhaus Private Nature Luxury Resort, Germany.

worst production i have ever seen, horrible! how you expect chess to grow?!?! really affected my enjoyment of the chess, not gna lie! its 2024 its not hard to put a little effort into making it visually acceptable and sounding good, not asking for movie level production here, just the basics done like you actually want people to watch it.

Peter is the only good thing about the production crew. The production really got in the way of being able to enjoy the chess
This set, the graphics, the audio quality, the wardrobe, the camera work, and the editing are all just truly awful. I mean just absolutely horrendous. If they’re going to expand chess viewership, something has got to change. This is unacceptable. I’ve seen higher quality production on public access television.
Also, it's Fischer Random. Stop disrespecting the inventor by calling it 960 or freestyle.

So many technical issues yikes. Always show the evaluation! Why they chose to hide it on the main board is unfathomable. Especially in these crazy formats, understanding a theoretical evaluation of the position just adds so much intrigue. Rookie mistake to turn it off.
