I learned how the pieces move shortly after my 4th birthday. I was playing against my twin brother all the time shortly after that. My dad ( who I haven't seen since I was 5 years old) taught my twin and I how to play very young. I never was very good at the game tho. But I also never got serious about the game and only played casually against my brother and friends. I was however better than all my friends so maybe I was better than I thought. But my brother would always destroy me. I really wish he was still alive today because I think I have learned enough from this channel that I could finally beat him in chess.
