The big advantage of Hikaru is, just to state the obvious, he literally doesn't care so there's no pressure to win. That's actually a huge advantage.

These thumbnails keep getting better and better

Best of luck! I hope you can win some games and play some aggressive chess.

Can you analyze some of the other games during the rest day? It would be interesting to see your analysis.

It did look like black had a slight spatial advantage, so it made sense to make a draw. A draw is better than a loss, as we see with Vidit's result against Nepo. I hope that you do play to win as the tournament progresses. It looks like Nepo will win this tournament because of his active play.

Don't worry about content and go for championship and that is the best content.

I'm rooting for you, Hikaru, but this still early in the tournament play-it-safe approach is making it easier for your opponents to exploit your tendencies, as well as killing momentum you want to build going into the later stages.

Pragg played the man more than he did the board today.

I'd love to see you play to your strengths. Instead of going for a big riskier move early and then mentally checking out of the game, prophylactic thinking will suit you better in classical.

Let the picture form first, and if chances arise exploit. First and foremost, however, you want to have your opponent sweat on time nearing the 40-move mark. The more moves in, the more time controls play to your advantage; and opponent decision-making deteriorates.

Alireza might just be the ideal opponent to try this against.

Nepo winning candidates for sure. He's play aggressive chess with smart tactics. Rest of the fields is scared and just draw after draw. Nepo clearly the best in show. I'd be shocked if Hikaru can score a win at this point with all the players being so shy to muddy the waters

when you have 1.5 point and still bs about accuracy

It's better to stop stressing yourself and stop analyzing matches. We want you to be a world champion, not just an analyst or content creator. Please be a world champion or try to be.

Sir, I really want to see you win this tourney. Much love and support from Pakistan.

    Kramnik trying to disturb you..
    Focus nd Win the candidates

Welcome to Canada. Good luck with the rest of the games.

We do not want satisfaction, but we want you to become the world champion. Try as much as possible, even if you lose, there is no problem. We care about your attempts and your fights for the title.

EXCELENTE HIKARU..ERES EL MEJOR… HAY QUE RESPETARTE CUANDO DE AJEDREZ SE TRATA 😍♟️🖤

Hikaru dont worry about content… focus on winning please. You r my favourite chess player!

The thumbnail was op ,got from rrr movie ,editor has very good skills ❤

We want you to be champion so don't play for the memes. Just play solid.

Great stuff, good to see your thought process under all this pressure. The calculated risk aspect of it all is very interesting. Good luck.

Hikaru bro u DESERVE to be the world champion IMO. I dont feel that any other player in the field has the passion like u. I know you are a streamer now but it just isnt right! Ur the only rival to magnus!!!!

You got to play for a win bro, stop going for draws

good luck hikaru you're the peoples champ you got it 🙏💪

I really like how Hikaru gradually improved the level of trolling and selfirony. Great content!

Please win nakamura, if you win the world champions, Not only you've won but brought pride again to Asia…… Please Winn Naka

Nepo is a beast with white, imagine if he wins this 3 times in a row, crazy achievement. Third time's the charm? Still it's too early for conclusions but he is now the favorite with Gukesh also looking good going into the first rest day.

The king will humble everyone trust me Hikaru is not going down

I told you to smash Prag like how I smash your like button.

I don't know if people realize how great it is to live in a time when we can watch a candidate to wcc analyzing his on games on YT

Hikaru, your balance between pragmatism and resilience is profound!
I think recognising that this is indeed still just the beginning, and that there is frankly no real need to take risks that decline your position/standing, is actually seen as you being MORE competitive, (than not) by your fans.
This gives us the chance to root for you till the end.

the real thrill is seeing if hikaru shows up to his game on Tuesday instead of playing titled Tuesday

I don't see that you had to move qb1, when you could play b3, not b4, c2 protects b3, so rook on the 2a means nothing and you keep Qd1 as you Nh5 to target black Nf6. Weather he takes or retreats or move Kh7 or most any other move his treats on your king are diminished greatly giving you an opportunity to regain the momentum.

I really hope you have a GREAT rest day because you are 7 in the field of 8 and 1.5 points out of first. I watch you because your are an amazing chess player, not because you are an amazing streamer. I hope that kicks in for you. Otherwise you're just a Gotham Chess. Levy is okay, but he does live in NY, so you might want to consider stop being Levy and be yourself. Be the Amazing Chess Player you are, winning the Candidates come home and stream!!!

Break a leg, or two, and have a GREAT time!!!

    Thank you,

    Stephen

Say you win vs Alireza he still needs to win games for his rating and candidates is such an opportunity it doesn’t make any sense for him to draw every game

A challenging first weekend of games, but you’re very much still in the running.

Honestly you are playing alot sharper than some of the other players Hikaru. Use that experience and wait for the right moment to pounce, it will come!!
