imo I like your commentary best for enjoyment. hikaru for best analysis.
but you should be million subs by now

Other-worldly brilliance from Magnus. Against the best (second best?) blitz player out there, too.Astonishing!

Bravo GIANT GOAT of chess Mr.king kong of chess Magnus Carlsen…Im glad you defeted dancing Hakaru Namaru, put him in his place, let him learn some more machine lines…but that what makes a diference,if you know how to play good in classsical format and all formats so to speak…job well done…bravissimo…dance now Harakiri Namaru.πŸ˜‚πŸŽ‰

That's twice in two games I've correctly answered the 'find the best move' challenge, but i only saw a few moves ahead. I had no idea how the game would resolve.

It is obvious that when prompted that there is an opportunity for a good move with so few pieces on the board and infinite time many are going to find it.

But the comments make it apparent that many people have never competed in anything in their live if they are able to delude themselves into thinking it would have been simple on low time in a tournament with the best players in the world.

Another good vid, but I’m pretty sure that was Rob rather than Dan

bro, *always* orient the viewer to the perspective of the hero of the story.

    FLIP THE DANG BOARD!!

why did he have to take with the bishop at b3, and not move it to d3?

Definitely, I assume now: Magnus is the best chess player in history! Recently wining random chess ( You are really talented chess player if you play this one well without any theory or preparation) and playing with his opponents like with toys! He was playing little psychological games with them: Let them win first game and devasted them in rest of match! They all have impression they could win, but they were sooo optimstic!

At 4:55 instead of bringing the King into the action why didn’t he play Bc2? Magnus would have picked up a pawn.

That can’t be a double brilliant move because I got it right!! And I’ve never had a double brilliant move before!! It took me about 3 minutes but at least I got it 😊

Oh please. I found h6 in less than 20 seconds and I'm a moron.

I'm bad at chess – like not even 700 – and that was the first move I thought of :P… I couldn't do the moves that got him there, but that one was easy πŸ™‚

On what move of the game did Magnus finally push the d pawn?

I legit saw h6. I thought it was obvious. lol

I found h6 rather easily with the bishop doing both defense and offence

I was disappointed to note that, unlike other videos you have created, this one is apparently not guaranteed to make me into a grand master within 6 weeks. Sometimes it's what you don't say ….. 😞

Is it always a theoretical draw? If only the ponds are on the outside of the board or if the pond is in the middle of the board one side should have a way to win?

I think there's a bit of hyperbole here. h6 was pretty obvious, even to me. There is no way this is the Greatest Move of all Time. Sorry.

That's why Magnus Carlsen is the G.O.A.T of our generation when he is on form, he can't be beaten

Yep. The greatest chess player ever. No doubt surely.

Might need endgame refresher course lol

Please stop using that stupid term GOAT.
What is the alleged "GOAT" move?

    7:00
technically, not a bathtub: it faces the wrong way.

time to coin a new word

Wow, f6 was first thing that came to mind for me. It blocks h5 from going h6 to support g6 pawn if it pushes. Black bishop would become tied to the h8 square if not. This would lead to either losing d2 or Hikaru getting a queen.

loved it, so close, beautiful chess

James, love your game recaps. Just the right length and level of depth. One day, I’ll be able to get some of these moves without rewinding a couple of times! πŸ˜‚

Found the move. But of course in a game against these Goats I would never have got to this finish.

I immediately saw Na5 at 2:18, when do I receive my honorary title?

Yes please more Magnus vs Hikaru!!! Keep it up

This was a fantastic move, the match was fantastic, both players played brilliantly. Springer is also a knight here in Norway, though hest (horse) is often used informally-Thanks James.

Carlson the TOAA — The One Above All

Wow I guessed it. It was just a guess though, not really understanding it

the goat playing goat moves, gotta love it. Now I will watch the video πŸ™‚

Great analysis, but brother why are you speaking in 0.5x speed πŸ˜‚
I used youtube's maximum 2x playtime speed for the entire video.

Wonderful commentary and presentation as always. Thanks James. Also, I see with amusement that your German vocabulary is rapidly improving πŸ™‚

the move is "easy to find" (how many other possibilities are there?) but not at all easy to see why it is correct. Way above my level, even with an hour or two to think.

His ridiculous antigravity hair leaves me astounded

0:36 I could swear it looks almost like Magnus is using chopsticks and Hikaru using plastic spoon…

So it wasn't necessarily all that brilliant? πŸ™‚
