That move seems easy to understand, and they look like they're so close to winning already, there's no way it's the best move, IMO.
What about Qe5? If queen takes queen then rook takes back, if queen takes the pawn you cqn take it back.

What about knight to e2? King is forced to leave, and then knight to g3. Afterwards all moves available to black lead ti checkmate, am I missing something?

It’s good to know even in the old days they made the mistake of going for these one move attacks. That rook attack on the queen was a one mover that stopped protecting the important e2 square.

This is an great move, however my strategy is far better and even used by the US Military: If we don't know what the fuck we're doing, the enemy can't surely anticipate our next move
I think white can get out of this with a queen trade if they do qe5, but still it’s not great for them

then
Queen to e1
Rook to F1 only option
Then knight to e2
And queen captures F1 checkmate
And if
King captures f2 then
Rook to f3
Pawn captures f3 only option
Queen to f3 check
King to h1
(If king to e1 then mate in 1 )
And then queen captures F1 checkmate
