I Shouldn’t Have Underestimated Him…

This is the recap of round 4 of the chess tournament I’m playing in – Reykjavik Open. In this round I played a 1600 rated player I completely underestimated. Hope you enjoy the video!

Never underestimate anyone, if you do you are being fool.

You speak very fast at 2x like a chopmunk. Keep it up

The overall understanding I have gleaned from your Reykjavik reports is that Chess is not just a game of skill, study, planning, and evaluation, but as important are the emotions and attitudes/psychology. I'm starting to understand better why Bobby Fischer was able to gain advantages against his opponents before the matches began (as an example). And I am starting to understand how fascinating the "off the table" aspects of Chess can be. Thanks, Anna!

That ending was Awesome- he totally thought he made the king move supreme 😅. Oh that had to hurt – A+ way UP! Nice game 😎✅

Good luck and thank you for the recaps. Keep up the good work and great play…

They only prepare for d4 opening, so they play fast in the beginning.

Eric Rosen being casually in the background is really funny

He played way above 1600 for most of the game. Such a weird line giving up your castling rights, but if it works, it works.

Such a nifty way to play against higher rated opponents.

You and Rosen, that will be a cuddle-match. Can't wait.

3:20 Love Anna's delivery, "they're very very very weak. So, oh no they're very weak because…". lol, perhaps they're very very weak.

Good luck tomorrow.. watch out for that Stafford

Mucha suerte Anna!!! Seguro que puedes batir a Eric…recuerda lo que dice siempre y no caigas en su "Oh no, my Queen…!!!" 🙂

Good that you bought yourself a Bluetooth mouse. 😉

I was always told "play the board, not the player" but I have zero theory.

As usual, a wonderfully enthusiastic video. Congrats to you, and to your well-prepped opponent. I may take a look at your mother commentary. Anna! Develop that ugly duckling knight! Tidy your room!

Well I scrolled halfway through the comments and didn't see this.

Even if you take his rook with your rook, his taking your queen with his queen puts his queen into a fork when you move your knight to e6 with check.

11:25 Anna Old people don't need to drink or eat anymore, you will find out when you grow older.

A great game, and your opponent was a powerhouse in the early and mid phases.

Thanks for your reviews, Anna. Your games really improves my personal repertoire and knowledge of how to deal with some difficult positions, like this one in the video. I was 1000 a month ago and after your videos (and some literature with very patient analysis of Fischer's games lol) i skyrocketed to 1500. Good luck in your next games)

You are the chess player better than botez

It would be lovely to hear pia's comments to key moves in the videos.

Its fun to see crazy game like that sometimes. Keep improving Anna i think you can become a international master in the near future.

I've known Kevin for many years through playing chess in Bradford and Yorkshire league matches and he is a genuinely nice bloke..

Great finish! Never give up and fight to the win!

Just watched your latest game on 1/4/23, if your opposition played pawn H3 followed by rook b2 followed by rook b8 and forces your own rook onto b8, you would have lost the game but you were lucky he missed it.

wait if she is swedish could she speak swedish?

And I thought the part with Eric Rosen was an April's fool.

Watch out for Eric tricks. I see that coming "oh no, my Queen" and then discover triple fork checkmate an passant

Now that movies are terrible, chess is more exciting!

She plays next round with … Eric Rosen !! Oh no my … Anna!!! 😁

I just started watching you a few days ago cus I love chess and now im following your series of victory.
Also I found out that you can speak excellent swedish sooooooooooooo…
Hej hej hoppas att du vinner och snyggt jobbat med denna vinst. Du är väldigt fantastisk och du gör så roliga videos att kolla på. Heja!

Often, when you ask for a draw you blunder next move.
