I don't know if he's a chess master or not. But those that specialize in chess usually memorize positions and those that are exceptional can definitely play blindfolded. They have seen the game so much, familiar with so many common moves that's it's easy for them to hold it in memory. Kudos man.
He just did a modified scholars mate. It is not too much to keep in your head. But he it was a risk that move doesn't work at all on people who know to look for it
When players play chess blindfolded they've reached a stage where they can materialise the board and pieces in their mind accurately with great detail,
Am I the only person who refuses to acknowledge that's a checkmate? King takes the queen, no checkmate and if the king can't take the queen, then there's also no checkmate.
As a person who played chess for 12 years (since i was 5) I can say that this is a very common skill. About a year or two since you learned chess you have to learn to plan the next moves in your head. A lot of kids in my age was able to play chess without moving the chess when they were 10. In chess you have to be able to plan the next 5 moves correctly without mistake in order to take medal in a country that is a competitive in chess. In my country chess is very popular and half of the people know chess at least at a beginner level. So kids have to be able to play blindfolded by imagining the whole game in their head in order to be successful.
Why couldn't the king attack the queen?

This reminds me of a chinese drama/serial(i don't remember) i watched as a child. And it was baffling to see a game of chess being played mentally.
