Magnus Carlsen Invented A New Chess Opening

Magnus Carlsen Invented A New Chess Opening – The Plough! Magnus Carlsen repeatedly played pawn to h4, which I’m calling the plough, in Titled Tuesday Chess, 7th November, late tournament on chess.com. Alireza Firouzja was his opponent in this epic game of chess.

4:12 How is that a brilliant move? It’s the correct move but it’s also the move 99% of players would play. That was the entire purpose of moving the queen. To free up that square for his knight.

Why wouldn’t he play d5! There is no way that Magnus is a better chess player than Fischer. Bobby definitely would have pushed d5.

So like, you imply he has calculated the checkmates before he commits on the king side, but thats clearly not the case. He just has an idea that "it works", right?

What a great opening. The plow! With the rook immediately activated!

Rook proceeds to not move at all until castle…😂

He has perfected the “sore loser” strategy,
If he ever loses he throws all the pieces out of his pram and cries “cheater! He has a watch!!! Check his butt”
    Works every time.

shame he only got a draw out of that after suddenly losing momentum

Thank you so much for not yelling. Gotham chess likes to scream the pieces, and your approach is more suttle.

Also Video: shows the Desprez opening.

There is no Cow opening. It was plagiarized move by move from 2002 book The Defense Game by Pafu. The fact that no one realized it as of yet is beyond me.

    Kindergarten chess play…
I dont understand why promote those players as pros

Did he really? Or are all of you just unaware of the work of Jean Pierre LeRue from the early 1700s?

I made that up… the point is, this game has been being played longer than any of your family names go back. Pretty sure No One can invent anything new in this game, its just old tech being rediscovered…. but sure, everybody wants to be special in their time.

This video is clickbait.. he said at the very beginning, "he moves his pawn then the rook follows and they plow through everybody"
he moved his rook once… fvck out of here.

Wow this guy is a good chess player. He just join the World Championships, I bet he'd win.

i thought of the plow before him but i just moved the rooks out and aligned them so it was double straight into the enemy king and just ram and if they take my tower i just use my other

Love how you stop and ask what we would do. I’m not a chess player but I chose the same things which made me feel a little smart (or lucky 😊).

That is actually the opening that every children who starts learning chess for the first time plays.

I like the corner pawn opening, giving me the opportunity of a corner castle or releasing other pieces if needed. Very versitile.

Wow, Magnus is so good he invented an opening that already has a name.

Great way to take control of center, one of the first key strategies I was taught in chess. I’ll have to give this a try.

This Magnus guy inventing new openings is fun. It's always warm to see new players rise. If he reads a bit of opening theory, he will go a long way in chess some day.

This magnus guy is pretty good. He should face the world champion i think hes got a good shot

unless he invented moving 2 pieces at once, it aint that interesting. no watch. Play Starcraft like a real man instead.

moving the king proactively sounds very similar to shogi castling. Very interesting to see tactical convergence in two very similar games!

I actually invented this the 1st time I played chess when i was 9

I like how the position just transposed into something relatively normal, but with the extra spice of that looming rook. I love to see it.

At first glance i thought it said the pillow. Was like he’s putting them to sleep 😴

At least i have 1 thing in common with Magnus, my hair is as good as his.

    That's about it though.

There is no such thing as new in chess…
    Or in my youtube feed…

What size anal beads do I need to do this opening?

Aparin I feel so sorry for him. Mates gonna have ptsd for the rest of his life😊

Profilaxis is such a nice word to add into my vocabulary

i'v been playing the sides for years! so fun going unorthodox
I keep pushing to open rook files and have developed a game in the center that seems to hold alright with interesting play later on, I never castle, sometimes push one of the side pawns through to promotion, and often punish the opponent for castling sense I can quickly have multiple pawns moved forward to wither side they choose

His strength is his mind, intuition, and grasp of core concepts, where the strengths of the majority of his opponents is how studied they are at the traditional positions. Magnus realized this in the last couple of years from goofing around and seeing his opponents struggle, and now he uses the non-traditional "goofing around" as a strategy to take his opponents out of their comfort zone.

Truly incredible commentary. I’m new to chess and you make this top-level play extremely digestible and entertaining. And I legitimately laughed out loud at the draw fake out. You earned a sub man, nice job

The fact that a GM did not see a mate in 6 with 8 seconds left on the clock makes me gain some confidence in myself after not seeing mate in 2 in a 15 min game lol

"Here he got mate in 6 or here in 6 or here in 8 but he dont find them no problem" 8s left … XD

A bit clickbait, cause everyone was expexting you words to become truth, that 2nd white move will be rock H3

This is literally the same opening I've been using every game since middle school.

I paused and spent 5 minutes staring at the board and gave up… <play> … pawn G4. Brilliant.
