At2:58 Magnus should go Nd5 straightaway to put enormous pressure on the white knight (pinned to the queen) and threaten white's bishop

Then why can he not beat Niemann?

I literally heard Pacman sounds in my head watching this. Woa-woga-woga-woga. First those pawn moves, breaking the rule that Carlsen doesn't like moving pawns. Then the maze he sets up with Duda's own attacking material. Uncanny martial artistry. And all of it watertight as you wonderfully demonstrate.

Duda is studying today, garanteed :). But the f on what should he work.

We need to see a chomp attack .Or do we see the chomp every time Magnus opens the all devouring maw that opens for bishops and queen when he 'randomly' pushes all his pawns out ?

no revolution just a bullet game by a very precise player who can compensate for his wierd openings

A Duda video! Yeahy! Had Nepo and Duda now, just looking for one of Mamedyarov's wild games! (My fav chess players) Would be nice to have videos of them all winning tho and not just Carlson stomping everyone.

I don't think this type of play would be possible in classical or even rapid at the highest level.

6:47 I don't get the point of Bg7. The h8 is covered either way.
Same with Qg6 7:35 – why not Qf5 right away.

Carlsen is not revolutionizing chess. He is demonstrating how even top players are overly dependent on memorizing opening lines; so that when you take them out of their familiar territory, they make inferior moves quite early in the game. A chess engine would destroy Carlsen even quicker after these opening moves then they would in a normal line because the moves are objectively inferior. But they are also outside of his opponents prep.

I need more camel tongue pics! haha those little pics once or twice a game really add some hilarity to it. Keep on commenting and adding the humor!!!!

Magnus Carlsen is to chess what Anderson Silva was to fighting in his prime as Middleweight champion of UFC. Natural talent so superlative he clowned on other elite competitors like they were helpless children.

Magnus appears to have a crazy opening, but after 10 moves heโ€™s the same as he would be after book moves. Itโ€™s just a different order of playing moves ๐Ÿ˜Š

This really is an fascinating way to arrive at that position. Will be interesting to see what sort of variations or traps he is setting up based off this opening.

To be fair, blitz is a different beast from classical chess.

If the game had continued it appeared Duda wouldโ€™ve been Able to get his own checks in with his rook and Queen if Magnus had bought his Rook down to help with the checkmate decent game by Duda Magnus does make it look easy tho thanks for the game James

The traveller video was so good danmit, loved that shii. Hope you have another masterpiece commentary

Can't believe Magnus isn't using Trump's chess opening, especially after Trump let everyone know how smart he is. I swear– Magnus doesn't know what he's doing.

James "Epic Chess" Gardner is revolutionize chess commentary!

Heโ€™s doing everyone a favor by skipping the boring memorization part of chess and going straight to the fun problem solving part.

Great game. Magnus knows the territory so well, he does not need opening maps! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    7:00 "What does Duda do?"

Duda does what a Duda dude do: Doobie, Doobie, Doo!

I think he is doing this to train for the Fisher Random championships. Not quite random but less familiar structures: as good as it gets when you have few opportunities to play Fisher Random with top level players.

magnus is not revolutionizing chess. he would not play these moves against wesley so.

This guy is just doing the random openings that we used to do when we were kids except it actually works for him

Great analyses, and well delivered, as usual. Thx mate, keep them coming

Carlson barely develops a piece? yeah cuz 2 have been developed, one is off the board, and a finchetto is a very strong move. I wouldnt define it as a barely, it requires 2 moves. When Carlson castles after c3, the board looks very normal, almost transposed.

Could it be that Magnus practicing to break the famous sequence of pawn move (11 ea) by Emil Joseph Diemer at a start of a chess game?

Another great explanation of another rousing game. Based upon the evaluation bar, it will be interesting to see if any of these lines Magnus has tried are played using classical time controls. Doubtful, but one can dream…

Perhaps this is what you are implicitly saying, but I feel like what is happening is Magnus is playing these weird lines to get opponents out of their prep and away from simply memorizing move sequences. It would also be easier to see if someone is cheating with these weird openers because the best moves are frequently unnatural and hard to find without computer assistance.

Careful you donโ€™t beat this idea to death

love it, epic (endgame) chess, thanks

Love the fact that you are such a Magnus-Fan! So am I, for the same reasons as you: he plays exciting, daring and original chess! โค

You should have a new background on your videos with an air quality meter ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

It's 'revolutionising'. With an S, not a Z. Why do so many British people spell like Americans now? It's desperately sad.

Up until a year ago, I wouldn't have called Magnus the GOAT. I'd have put Kasparov or Fischer ahead of him. But now I'm pretty sure Magnus is the king of kings. ''My 600 Memorable Games'' is going to be a gigantic book some day.

Please improve your pronunciation of "en passant". It is a silent t :" en passan" ๐Ÿ™‚ LOL

Magnus of course watching epic chess every day

Thumbs up if you loathe Trump; thumbs down if you have dung for brains!

Epic Chess gives proper respect and historically records the brilliance of a once in a generation artist.

I'm curious if you have many Norwegian viewers on these Magnus videos. I'd bet yes.

The truly good players will almost always beat the computer geeks. They can just naturally see the board and understand the game. I think they are just born with a sixth sense.

    6'35" Why not Qe7 instead of f6?

Bro try someone else , rather than magnus, too .
