Your Zwischenzug has developed nicely. Once again: both z"s are pronounced with the ts sound

If tactical shots were weapons, Magnus is locked and loaded, and armed to the teeth!

too much commentary going into all these variations. This video should be about Magnus Carlsen reinventing his chess opening, not a chess lesson. The drama is lost in the by.

10 years ago this style was called agressive coffe house chess, today it is bored Magnus needs to make it interesting.

Magnus frequently pulls off these high wire acts for his and our entertainment … and survives. We are living in a golden age of chess.

You're missing a very important point. Carlsen is not a method player. Not a rote established tactics player. He's playing all the pieces on the board three to five moves ahead. Or more. His grasp of potential moves is well into the realm of a computer. Just roll Fischer and Capablanca into one player. add some Tal-easque weirdness, then sprinkle with him as comfortable with blitz games as the other top GMs were in rapid.

it regardless of the opening they end up in an end game and Magnus just destroys every on at that point.

I wonder when we will see Magnus play the Cow opening lol

By the way, something that was just pointed out to me. Positional chess. Certain moves demand certain other moves. Carlsen is constantly tripping up his opponents by avoiding traditional positions. Free form chess as in his recently touted 'plow' opening. The h4 opening is ridiculous and would be scoffed at by all the great masters. Almost a variation on the bong cloud. But he can and often does make it work, pulling rabbits out of the hat over and over. This free form chess thinking is what has placed him at the top among or above the best of the best.

Simon Williams is rolling over in his grave. RIP, Harry the H pawn.

"Zwischenzug" pronounciation now much better! Thanks again for the daily dose of chess James 🙂

Why is this so entertaining to watch.. He is just playing with his food.. damn Magnus

    Plow opening: the reversed Scandinavian.

Magnus knows he can beat anybody if out of theory and that's what he does. Take the GMs out of theory as soon as possible. The plow is perfect for it!

The German 'z' is pronounces more like a English 'ts' and the 'u' is pronounced like an English 'oo'. So 'Zwischenzug' would be pronounced in English like 'tswishentsook'.

Zwischenzug is pronounced like Zvish en tsoog. You're close, but pronouncing like Swish en zoog. The 'ts' sound is basically an 's', but you start your tongue placed where you would when beginning a 't' (tip of tongue behind the upper front teeth). You don't actually pronounce the 't' at all.

Modern plow theory haha. You’re the funniest and funnest chess channel. I love you

Moves pawn without opening minor pieces, gambits while behind on tempo, first non-pawn move is a queen one, disregards all principles. MFW i'm Magnus Carlsen

When you get so good at the game you start doing challenges

hold on im a 900 elo and ive been doing this opening since i started psh hell i even push my knight back n fourth from g1 to g3 to g1 3 times in a row just troll then come back and slap em when they push there important pieces to far ive got the videos to prove

HONESTLY ITS NOT THE OPENING BUT THE WAY HE THINKS AND PLAYS THATS Y HE WINS! Maybe he caught the other grandmaster off guard but it’s not because of that he’s won once! If I was to do it sitting at 1200-1500elo I’d loose against prolly anyone because we don’t ususally think that far ahead. I mean I do but half the possibilities are left unchecked so yeah his abstract thinking plus his winning mentality plus his calm composure plus his computation do play a MAJOR ROLE IN THIS SO CALLED “new opening”
