Good work being the first major commentator to actually explain why the final position is winning. It’s always unsatisfying to watch a live event or recap where they don’t bother explaining the final position.
Great recap. 👍
Long live the Ding 🎉🎉
Never underestimate Nepo‘s ability to fuck things up.
Game 4 is so similar to game 2
I rooted for nepo in the previous championship as well. I badly needed him to come back strongly and win the title someday after terrible lost to magnus. he obliterated everyone including ding in the candidates and I wanted hikaru to finish second in the candidates to see nepo vs hikaru in case magnus withdraws. in the final moment hikaru blundered and let ding to finish second in the candidates. I was rooting for nepo in the championship and he lost in a heartbreaking manner. Now it's all over for nepo. No comeback and I will not follow chess anymore. Nonetheless I want hikaru to be the next challenger and crush ding in the next world championship. you can do it for sure. please be kind enough to do well in classical and be the next champ. big fan of you and nepo…
The loser of this match is – Magnus Carlsen.
I felt so bad watching Nepo accepting defeat and walking out of his chair, but he left the championship slip off his hands
Never in a million years did I see this coming after Ding blew an easy win in the 8th game where he was like 9 pawns better than Nepo. First Chinese World Champ in history. breaking barriers.
Ian should have traded queens at one point in the 4th game (after Re1, Qe4+ was possible with queen trade)
Based on their current chess skill, Ding is the best. Carlsen is the best when considering the overall achievements. You cannot be the current best if you do not play, if you do not defend your title. If Einstein said he was the current best chess player but just did not train professionally, would he be better than Lasker? No.
Ding Chilling🥶🥶
Most under-rated but never under paid🐐🐐
Not even worried🥱🥱
Undisputed king👑👑
Up the ding🤫🤫🥳🥳
The fact that Ding was able to level the match after blowing an easy win in the 8th game, then declining the repetition draw and winning the deciding 4th game in the tiebreaks makes this the most thrilling WCC match in history.
The best part was when in the last tie-breaker game Ding pulled out his Ding Chilling and Ding Chillinged all over the board
This thumbnail is GOLD
Thanks Hikaru.
The only way an asian can become world champion in anything is if the best player doesn't participate.
Ian always no.2 it kind of sad.
DINGGG
congrats to both and thanks for awesome games but i think Magnus would just destroy both of them
And in this position Magnus resigned.
The difference in this match wasn't chess strength, it was mental and emotional strength, which Ian is clearly lacking. Is he going to go down as one of the greatest players to never be WC? If I were him I'd hire a sports psychologist ASAP.
Yupz, we got a new "World Champion" right now, but the World Number 1 Never change from 2009 until today 🎉🎉🎉
Ian beat Nepo and Ding is the Champion.
that thumbnail is wild
Ding literally had an anime protagonist's path to the world championship. Let's not forget that he was originally excluded due to inability to participate in the qualifiers, then because of a Russian participant's… outbursts, a slot opened up. Ding had been stranded in China for years at this point and had fallen out of the period where FIDE considers a player "active", so he had to organize an emergency tournament in China to get in as the ratings-based substitute qualifier–not to boost his rating, his rating was already high enough, he literally just needed FIDE to acknowledge him as "active".
THEN, at the candidates tournament itself, he had a negative score for the first HALF of the tournament, only equalizing in round 9, and then clinched 2nd place in the final round against the current 2nd (Hikaru).
Then Magnus officially announced what he had hinted at, which is that he would not be playing, thus giving Ding another "substitute" spot, in the world championship.
Then in the world championship match, during an extremely intense and climactic series where nearly half of the games were decisive (6/14), Ding wasn't ahead at any point! He was only ever behind or tied during the entire 14-game series, with Ian being ahead at 3 separate times, and Ding managing to equalize for the last time only in his second to last game as white
And then he finally got his first advantage in the entire match during the final game of the rapid tiebreaks, winning the tournament
He is definitely some kind of anime protagonist
Thanks for not spoiling the results in the title nor during the recap until the very end. I only wish whoever made the thumbnail also got the memo.
And then ding is gonna get bongclouded multiple times by carlsen and magnus again lol
Nepo was never going to be a world champion. He is way too inconsistent. He had so many chances to just play solidly against Magnus and especially Ding. Ding left the door open so many times and Nepo could not capitalize. With his high risk high reward inconsistent playing style, it is too difficult for him to win against the same person under the current format of 14 games.
Imagine Ding was Magnus. The match would have been over at 11 again, probably sooner.
Bing chilling
In this game Nepo played against himself (he had two opponents 1)Himself 2) Ding…and when the two teamed up against Nepo it was just too much for Nepo to handle!
I was rooting for Ding. He deserved it.
I don’t dislike Nepo—but Russian fans…
China s governement is going to take 95 % of Ding's price for the communist party, that's to say the old and crumbling disgusting billionaire of the nomenklatura. Thanks for the working class and the Revolution Ding. Good job. Now go back to work on chess for the great China.
King Pin Ding
Good explanation of the last moment esp…cause i couldn't exactly see why that move a3 to a2 wins(i mean the exact move order why it wins!)👌
I dunno why but when hikaru smiles in the beginning i get scared everytime
hikaru's thumbnails are really unique from all the youtubers, he is a chess player but uses all sports just to paste his face😂
Carlsen isn't out. Dung won't get the proper respect until he plays Carlsen in matches
This is a travesty. Either decide the world chess classical championship by classical games, or in event of a tie break reduce time by one hour for each side or please just stop the classical world chess championship.
Thanks
Great content
The welcome back everyone i can't man. The way he changes his expression
I guess beating that streamer guy for 2nd place was such a big deal
DING CHILLIN'🎉🍦❄
20:06 "pushing p on the A file"
All this because you wanted to be a bit more agressive during the candidates xD. But still would magnus had resigned his position if it was Hikaru vs Nepo ?
Ding Chilling❌ 丁淇凌✅ say it with me everybody 🤠
Ding Chilling
Hikaru call Ding’s …e4 thrust in game 4 a mistake is interesting because he considered the release of the light squared bishop aa bad. But Ding had evaluate the intermediate move …Ne5 followed by …Nd3, which eliminates the bishop pair advantage and allows a simpler game.
Sad to think this could have been Hikaru
While two players are fighting it out in wcc ,best chess players are streaming and making content in youtube😂
