Psychological defeat. Black resigned when he could have had an even game.

Anna, you played a beautiful game. The game was pretty much even all the way until his shocking resignation. Here is the moment when you explain to him and he realizes he had the Qe6 move 2:56:41

Really hope you picked self care over the blitz tournament.

    Greeting from Algeria 🇩🇿 Annaaaaaa🎉

Congratulations Anna for winning, I knew you could, now let's go for the other games💪

What a great watch. That was real drama, could have come straight out of the Queens gambit film. My theory, maybe the guy had a bit of a crush on Anna. Let her take the win. 😂 very understandable. She is gorgeous.

Great tension because of Pia being so expressive on all moves… and even more exciting moments in the end. Great game Anna!

Many years ago there was a "Blunder of the Year" article in a spoof "Not the British Chess Magazine" edited by Murray Chandler. It included things like the 3 move game (Dordevic-Kovacevic 1984), but the winning item was rather like this game. Black, to move, offered a draw. White said correctly "Let's see your move first". Black thought a few minutes and suddenly saw an amazing winning sacrifice leading to a quick forced mate, and played it. White, stunned, resigned … forgetting that he had a full legal right to accept the previously offered draw!!! (It was Sztern v Lundquist, Australia 1983).

Funny how Pia pronounces opponent, but she's great, as is Anna.
I also noticed that they both say "shaked hands" rather than "shook hands".

Pia is delivering the best chess commentary in 2024, defo! I always admired gm pia, but during this reykjavik open she is shining… as a annas mom and as a chess pundit. kudos!

Pia's commentary is astounding. You get to see 50 games of chess in 3 hours.

didnt see that coming 😀 gg anna!

Has Anna considered getting a "Chess Noter" or similar electronic score keeping device? Are those even allowed in FIDE competitions?

I really loved your stream. Thank you Pia and Anna. Your channel made me pick up chess again. How did you arrange to get a live camera feed a tournament. Did your opponent had to agree on it?

Why play all that time just to resign. I guess it’s just the competitive in me. If I’m going to lose then beat me.

pia is a great commentator, please more of it she is so experienced and a legend

I can't help thinking that there must be luckier people in the World.

I lost the live match or was that the fasted match ever

Anna you're the best .. crazy but still the best !!

Congratulations Anna! Your ma was great again also!

I hope she wins and uses the cow ha ha ha

I don’t know whose more stressed here mama or daughter.

Why was Qe6 the only move? Why not Qf6?

It was a nice game but great luck at finish, Anna. If you be able to, today please play lottery, euromillions, and any kind of games alike.

I love Pia. She was shocked by the resignation, pointed out it was a mistake, but still showed compassion by saying that many good players have done the same and competitions are high stress. Also I felt like I just got a free chess class from her excellent commentary!! Congrats on the win Anna!

Anna, we love seeing you super happy.

I can only assume that Black thought Qe6 would lose a piece to Qxe6 fxe6 Bxe4, (and I thought that myself when looking at the position initially), forgetting that Black can then play exf5 and after Bxf5 the position is equal. Because the pawn isn't on e6 in the final position, it's easy to have a mental block and overlook that exf5 is possible.

I love it when the guy comes along at 3:00:03 to point out the move. Like "cheers pal, that's really necessary" these tournaments always have a guy like that…

I wouldn't call that winning Anna……..I found Qe6…….he had a massive brain fart!

you need to start using the COW!!! COW will rule the tournament!!!!

Always fun to watch you. Pia comments are also very good. Cheers!

youtube is truly amazing i mean imagine 30 40 years ago how could ordinary people get a game review by a GM.

Canada was, is and will be behind you! I watched from MTL! Love your mom's reactions and imput on the possible tactics. She is the 🐐. Your mom's reaction when he resigned was hilarious. I was like no way in a dead draw position!!!! Again 👍👍 and SUB.

I have seen some games of Anna but she plays very slowly I managed to checkmate a player yesterday in 10 seconds checkmated

Even if I could beat Anna…I'd resign too.

Splendid Anna. Greetings from South Africa.

Anna's face is a poem when he resigns, and Pia astonishment too… absolutelly crazy

You should play the blitz for the experience. Just do it all 🙂

Your mom must be so proud of you! Congrats Anna
