We all must come together and support ian on the next one. Watching him at the end was heartbreaking 😢
ding chilling
ding chilling lets go
I feel like Ian is his own enemy. He always had a lot of time, but he rushed his moves always and losing in winning or advantegous situation.
Jeez the shaking of ians hand
russia sucks as always
Can feel the emotion from both players. Amazing final. Unlucky to Nepo, but congrats to Ding.
good luck next time nepo
saw this live alongside 160k other people and my god was it a great moment. man like ding didnt settle for a tie, he pulled off a surprise move and it paid dividends. great game and i dont even know anything about chess!
Good to know he can, actually, smile.
Such masterful chess from two grandmasters
Ding chilling
His smile is so precious.
Man…that final position and likely Game 12 will likely be burnt through Ian's memory. Chess is so unforgiving when you lose…a World Championship of all things.
You have to respect Nepo here. He was gracious and had integrity through the press conference afterwards as well.
Congrats. Dont mind those haters and copers.
When down on time, you can't bring full examination of a position to bear. The more complex the position, the more time you need to decipher its complexities and make the right decision. Any subtle oversight can mean disaster. Chess is a tough game!
A perfect ending for Ding: Knock down his rival in the last minute.
I noticed the pieces being knocked over in the live feed but I hadn’t noticed Ian’s hand trembling so much. Really brings home the human factor in chess and that these guys aren’t just engines in human form. Ian had to process so much emotion so quickly there. Losing is one thing, but losing so suddenly is different to knowing you’re beat long in advance. People aren’t built to cope with so much rapid change.
Ian frantically grabs hold of the captured pieces as though he was physically trying to prevent the game from slipping off his hands.
Well being 3rd best is not so bad.
The time when the world chess champion title is back to the asian continent. 😁
Congrats to Ding. Chesscom, you did Ian dirty by showing the shaky hands.. it doesn't need to be included in celebrating Ding's win. I don't think Ding would take pride in that
Don't forget super GM's can literally memorize a whole game. That means Ian will probably lose his soul a few weeks…
Ian almost sent his water bottle flying. So sad for him, he had many opportunities to win.
Is Ian expecting he will win the game? From what I can see, Ian looking down at Ding. That's why he was shaking. He cannot accept the truth that he will lose.
That gave me goosebumps
It was very emotional the moment Ding rejected Nepos draw and then Nepo knew it that he is gonna lose so he took a last look at the trophy with trembling hands and then left.
Universe wanted to wing ding bcz he was not in candidate then played 30 matches in one month to reach certain rating. Then entered into candidate finish second, magnus denied to defend his title, ding played well in classical format and bounce back three time,in rapid maintained his emotions and rest is history.♥️
I really don't want to see Ding or Nepo lose but this is sport, it's chess
WE LOVE YOU DING!
What was the purpose of the official moving the pieces at the end? I’ve just been watching recaps and wanted to watch this part, so I thought maybe they were putting the kings next to each other as a token of the fight that took place, but is there more to it than that?
Every time I see this I burst into tears
I don’t know much about chess, but I watched a recap of every game. What an epic battle.
i feel so bad for nepo every time i see the face he made and the nervous fidgeting and shaking. i’m glad ding won though
Impossible to not feel bad for Ian even though we're happy for Ding.
That was some pressure though, it's never easy to defeat a Russian in chess. They make you pay for one bad move ….those precise calculated moves there were like 5-6 brilliant moves that pushed nepo onto the Backfoot… That move Rg6 is the best because when everyone thought we were seeing another draw on the cards somehow he played when nobody thought he would play…..
This Championship could have gone either way, great jobs to both young gentlemen!
0:33 rip
The most impressive thing in this vid is Ding looking at Nepo and giving him a second handshake. That was pure empathy
I sincerely believe that Nepo deserves to be the World Champion at some point in the future. He's SO good and puts in SO much effort and energy. Seeing him realize what was happening was devastating to watch.
And a HUGE congrats to Ding!!! Didn't qualify for candidates, didn't qualify for the championship, never led a single time the entire match, and at the very end of the very last game of the tiebreakers, he decides to avoid a draw and comes out of it the World Champion. It's straight up a fairy tale story.
I'm not gonna lie i was rooting for Ding all the way but watching Nepo tremble like that is really heartbreaking. the guy lost first to Magnus and now to Ding i can't even imagine how hard this defeat is to Ian all the effort he had to put to be in the world championship twice only for him to lose again that is just brutal for me i really feel for Nepo but heads up Nepo life can be weird sometimes but all the efforts and work you put it will not be in vain, life is gonna reward you. You go again King that's the only way and congratulations to Ding really happy for him, he deserved this.
Nepo will 100% win it next time
Heart ❤went out to Ian….So happy for Ding😊
Wasn't really fan of Nepo, but man, i almost cried for him 😢
0:34 Ian lost it, emotionally…
Wonderfully edited conclusion to a rollercoaster match. Heartbreaking to watch it slip away from Nepo but how can you not love Ding?? A classic underdog story.
I was almost in tears for Ding's win.
DING CHILLING!!!
As long the game not yet finish we cannot tell who will win because a lot of people underestimate ding ,,they thought nepo will win
