Hey bro I'm sure you won't get this message but if you would do this is the real truth about chess in the history of Bobby Fischer vs. Magnus Carlsen! First and foremost Bobby Fischer taught himself he used books and studied and he used his brain! Magnus Carlsen he was brought up in an era where you used engines and computers and calculators to become and good. That's not skilled to me he used something that's far superior to catapult his mind without doing the work as Bobby Fischer did! Bobby Fischer put in the work by reading all the books spending hours and days! Where Magnus Carlsen just has a bunch of seconds thirds and fourths and a bunch of computers on running lines and that's all he's got to do it's all he's got to do it since very simple doesn't mean he's the greatest chess player player of all time he's actually the greatest engine user of all time haha

Bobby Fischer had a goal, and once he achieved it he didn't know what to do with himself. Similar in many ways to a previous world champion, Alexander Alekhine. And when Fischer said 'they' were out to get him he was right because the Soviet chess establishment was out to get him. Fischer wasn't insane by any means since he played grandmaster level chess twenty years later with Boris Spassky. And if being an anti-semite makes you insane then half of the members of the Republican party in the US are insane.

He didn't go insane. He was just labelled insane by the media which is owned by the very people he rightly criticised.
You can go insane anytime. Sometimes it's genetic. Sometimes it's external factors causing stress and unhealthy thinking patterns. I don't think chess made him crazy. I think it was his predisposition ( difficult childhood with no guidance) and exposure to many stressful events as a Star chess player.
Guidance and support from parents as well as social support during tough times helps a lot. I think he had neither. So to deal with his unhappiness and stress he had to adopt mental attitudes which made him difficult.
Nevertheless, despite all the things he said, he is a hero in some ways.
