didnt get a point, how exactly blitz and rapid event is related to classical time format chess? those ELO points are differed from classical, so why this tournament can give any impact for qualifying to candidates? thats one more bad idea from FIDE.

The ratings slot is kind of crazy. ELO is not accurate down to a handful of points. For me if multiple players are within 5 points, maybe even 10, they should do a wildcard or qualification (like tennis) round for the rating spot. Do a mini tournament for that spot. But maybe using the rating is not a good idea as it can be obviously farmed to some extent and when players are close it can change frequently. At least for the various tournaments, you know the winner has beaten other top players.

Whats up with the chess tournament rules and placements being so overcomplicated? Cant we just make something like a chess champions league?
Sometimes traditions need to be revised to survive in modern times. However, as far as FIDE is concerned; why are players punished for following the given rules?
And one last sentence to fuel the controversy. Fide, if the top ranked player in your system doesn't want to participate in your tournament, for reasons that are well documented, you should stop and consider whether you are still attractive enough to represent chess in this day and age.

When something actually dramatic happens in chess. I hope Levy titles the video "An ordinary day in chess." I'm trying to think of events that could occur to deserve such a title. I can only think of a few things:
1. They change the elementary rules of chess
2. Magnus switches to checkers
3. Levy restrains himself while titling a video
However, as a husband I would also do anything necessary to shower my wife in riches. Levy – Keep it rocking, make the next video title so absurdly over the top. Some suggestions – "MAGNUS comes out as JESUS!" or "All your base are belong to MAGNUS!!"

FIDE looks even worse that FIFA, at least FIFA is mainly corrupted not just incompetent.
This is something that actually happen all of the time in formula 1, the teams and drivers always finds a way to play with the rules to give themselves an edge. They are not cheating but they are most definitely exploiting the system.

Chess is about exploiting opponent's mistakes. We should expect nothing less than that top tier GMs would try to exploit the mistakes of FIDE. I think Firouja titled his little tournament the way he did as a not-so-subtle dig to call out FIDE for their loose rules on qualification.

How about making a new classical tournament with the people in question and whoever wins takes the spot of the circus or whatever it is

Basically Levy said "game is game" and he wants changes to Chess tournament scheduling so this can't happen anymore.
My thought is purely FIDE designed a system that creates last minute excitement. It feels a bit weird for that to be something as big as the Candidates cycle especially given that the cycle is only every other year but this is the system they created and if this was not how they intended it to work they should revamp it for next cycle not retroactively blame the players.
