🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:

00:27 🧠 Start with Short Tactics Training:
    – Begin with solving puzzles to focus on chess and learn different tactical patterns. This helps prevent blunders and strengthens your attacking skills.
03:31 🕹️ Play and Analyze Games:
    – Play games, then analyze them using chess software or engines. Learn from mistakes, understand opening theories, and identify weaknesses in your gameplay.
06:46 📚 Study Chess, Especially Openings:
    – Master essential openings for both white and black pieces. While openings won't make you a strong player alone, understanding them is crucial to progress effectively.
09:07 ⏱️ Time Management for Training:
    – Allocate 30 minutes daily for a well-rounded training session. Adjust components (tactics, games, study) based on the time you have, ensuring a balanced approach to improvement.

    PUZZLE ANSWER SPOILER:
the forcing move rook h8 sacrifices the rook for the sake of the follow up check on queen h5. The king is forced back to g8. then, the great move pawn g6. black has zero opportunities to prevent the imminent, wonderful, queen h7.

    Bravo 🎉👏

I'm stuck at 1460-1480 ..hoping this will help me go higher…

What should a 2000 player do to start training for FM??

I am 1000 rated i need to get better to play in tournaments

Why the rook doesn't capture knight…….

Please do a video on Advantages/Disadvantages of King vs Queen side Castling

For the first puzzle: Qh5, whatever black plays, Qxf7 is mate.

    1. g6, after any black move play
    2.Rh8+, Kxh8
    3. Qh8+, Bh5
    4. Qxh5+, Kg8
    5. Qh7#

Just reached 1500 for the first time, i cant believe how good 2000 would feel haha

Hello Igor.. I sm keen to Get an Elo rating.. How dio i go about doing that?

On the first tactic, cant he play qf6b after nxd5. But then maybe Qe3 and after R or Qxd5 Rxf8, Kxf8, Qh6+?

    2:57 Qh5

excellent classes as usual. thanks a lot for structuring our thoughts and helping us improve our game.

Yes I figured out the first puzzle, since I recently missed a "smothered mate" in a blitz game, I kept checking until it was a draw…and later analysis showed I had a smothered mate, too bad I missed it, however it helped figure out this puzzle. Cheers!

I have a quistion can i train 1 hour every day for a year to will be 2000
    And l am 1700

I have to work hard to make small improvements. So this might help
    me to get to 2000.

@7:13 what do we do if instead of b4, white plays Bishop e3 to protect their pawn? Surely that white pawn on c5 is then a massive thorn in blacks side.

Lmao dude literally guesses the puzzle and says don't guess the puzzle

Shouldn't you start with a basic endgame knowledge?

Ești foarte tare te rog să m-ai faci astfel de videoclipuri

2:54 I think that solution is as follows: 1. Qh5 B:c4 2. g6 and black has no defense from Qh7/h8X.

2:53 Tell me that I am not wrong here, but the move is 1. g6 and its a win by force as whatever black does, we sacrifice our rook by playing 2. rh8 followed by 3. qh5 and 4. qh7#(checkmate)

I can’t find the answer for the puzzle, what was it?

I am m a beginner, could I replace studying openings with studying endgames?

Thanks for theses tips, i already see improvement ! But i have to say, maybe iam dumb, but "play and analyse" take me roughly 50 minutes each day, how can you play a game of 10-15 minutes ??? Iam playing on lichess.

I like your videos they give you insight I was in a game and I had the queen and one space away. I have my night down in the corner I had on my bishop. I’m ready to pounce on winning the game and I don’t know what piece I should use or sacrifice I got it right there. I got it. I got the game in my hands and I can’t and it is there a drill I could do

I have been stuck at 1600 in the last few months. I play with intuition and have never done puzzles or study. I feel like I need to take it more seriously and not play and workout at the same time as it is destroying my rating. Thanks.

gonna get back to this when I reach 2000 elo

    Rh8 check ! K×h8
    Qh5 check ! Kg8
g6 and next moove is Qh7 check mate any way

As a 2400, I can confirm, this is a very good training program, i approve 👍

So this really helped me defeat Alpha Zero blindfolded!
Alright, jokes aside, GM Smirnov ( such a kick-ass name) I greatly appreciate you putting out these videos. I like how you emphasis on a 'thinking' system than just accumulation of pointless knowledge. Great work. I will dedicate more than 1 hour a day utilizing the same plan . Thankyou

Agree with everything! Studying positional understanding and openings 10-15 min per day is important. Also, keep in mind opening theory can help you understand positions more

I like the content , but 5 minutes puzzles? I feel like that’s impossible cuz I tried it before, from my perspective 15 minutes at least and 20+ for advanced

I am new to chess (Knew the basics and could play casually before) and I am loving these videos. In-depth yet simple.

Puzzle: Qh5, lines up a battery with rook on the h file. Enemy bishop is pinned to king so can't take our queen. Checkmate inevitable.

I really need this video. Thank you, GM Igor. Appreciate that.

I am only 600.And you think, hope and want us to become a GRANDMASTER.

I love your because of the detail and the stuff you teach
