Alireza really thought it would be a good idea to leave himself no wiggle room whatsoever… if only he could have gotten 4 opponents instead of 3. But then again, had he booked 4 opponents, and beaten the first 3 6-0, would he have just quit the tournament then and there? That would be a bit too on the nose, right?

Alireza could not reach Candidate’s by beating top GM’s, so he conjured up a tournament that he could dominate and get in the back door. What a disgrace! Alireza is OVER-RATED..

I like Alireza but i love Wesley. I have a good feeling about how he will perform this candidates

I have lost all respect for Guccireza

00:00 It was in no point of this game that we had Fedorchuk's time

and it was in this position that sergey preferred to get more money than more ELO !

I want the farmer alireza to qualify to the candidates and get kicked around by pragg and gukesh😂

Karma's a bitch. Alireza really doesn't deserve to play the candidates next year after he intentionally shifted his focus from chess towards other things and then to pull off something unethical like this at the last moment just to get back into the candidates.

Let's see if in this case there is no funny move.

Agadmator "It was a brutal game." 😆 I take it he doesn't watch boxing! 😂

Why did Fedorchuk agree to a draw if he was completly winning?

Chess is my favourite way to escape the insanity of the world.

firouzja just embarrassed himself by arranging this event . i hope FIDE does better for the next cycle

Don’t worry, I’ll be playing a 50 game match against Alireza to get him qualified (I do not have a rating)

If Alireza still makes it into the canidates I will be livid. Hes been awful all year and we all remember what he did last canidates

Giri is such a savage 😂😂😂😂😂

Santa Clause seems to be extremely generous to Alireza this Christmas!

He has a right extend the matches if draws get 2 more . Ridiculous..blatant cheating. Wesley better get in and Fide better rule this as invalid unrated.

Great video, but I couldn't see the time for Fedorchuk. Not sure if the problem is on my end though

Alireza Firouzja's second Race to Candidates is probably coming very soon lmao
edit: this time he will probably play 10 IMs

"I'm very happy that Alireza didn't qualify. It's not that I hate him or like 'So' very much, but the way he was trying to qualify—I really, really don't like this."

5:32 "A great homage to Bobby Fischer" 😂 I'm dying

It's not the jokes, it's how he delivers them so nonchalantly that gets me

This one sparks joy. Not only did Alireza fail to qualify for Candidates through rating but he also lost the respect of many fellow chess players and chess fans. I hope FIDE overhauls the candidates so we don't see something like this in the future.

Edit: I guess a lot of people consider this and Chennai masters to be the same sort of tournament. So I will try to explain how they are different. What you guys want to believe in the end is completely up to you. Nothing wrong with that.

    1) Chennai Grandmasters was actually in planning for many months and it was not a last moment tournament. Many Super Gm's were aware of this tournament.

    2) Strong grandmasters were invited to the tournament. Wesley So in a tweet and Anish Giri while commentating for the tournament admitted that they were both invited for the Chennai Grandmasters tournament but because of circumstances they had to refuse (Wesley being in Toronto at the time and Anish was busy with his family). So unlike this tournament, Chennai grandmasters gave the same opportunity to So and Anish to qualify.

    3) It had average player rating of 2711, one of the highest this year.

    4) All the players in that tournament were playing to win. Arjun, one of the players who could qualify for candidates, lost in the very first round. So it was clear that everyone is there to win.
    5) It wasn't just Gukesh who could qualify. Parham and Arjun were a part of that tournament as well and both had good chances of qualifying if they performed good.

The fact Alireza created a tournament just so he can make it into the candidates is such a chad move 😭😭

Clicked the moment I saw the notification lol

I've been waiting for this since the game ended lol

Now I realize, chess is politics. No longer the decent respectable sport it used to be.

I think it's shocking that Alireza is playing chess to try and get into the Candidate tournament: as opposed to coming 4th in a regional tournament, or being Russian, or because FIDE hands him a free invitation, which are the traditional ways of getting there

Sergey is so strong that we canot afford to watch his clock's countdown

Alireza's time was visible but not the time for Sergey.

KARMA!!!! So happy for So now that Alireza got his ass beat by a 2500 GM LOL!!! God I love this. Respect to Fedorchuk for playing hard af

LoLs Alireza, he lost badly in Sinquenfield Cup and forcing himself to join candidates, unworthy just accept it!
